Advice Needed from (female) Waxers

Postby nukesul » Mon Aug 29, 2011 4:50 pm

Im hoping for advice, likely from the female waxers out there. Almost two months ago I had my first ever full wax. It was done out of my town by a very kind professional aesthetician who shares office space with medical doctors It went okay - some parts hurt but it was over fast. That day, I was pretty red and inflamed but it went away quickly and my partner and I loved the results. The problem: a week or so later, hair started to grow in and all seemed to be accompanied by vicious red bumps. This has continued for 6-7 weeks. Sometimes the bumps aren't too noticeable but some times (esp. after exercise) they are quite awful. I know this has to do with the cycle of hair growth but is this normal? In an effort to let things settle, I'm letting it all grow out, but I don't want this to continue. I'm going to Desire in the Fall and want to be shaved and smooth. What should I do? Currently, I think I'll try a full wax a day or two before I leave for Desire. I hope all my skin will be smooth while I'm there and hope for the best when hair grows in. What do you experienced waxers suggest? As a rookie, this condition caught me by surprise. By the way, my hair and skin tone eliminates laser from being an option.

The best advice I can give you is to keep doing the waxing. Over time your skin will adjust and there will be less irritation. Your hair will come in thinner and thinner every time as well. I'm definitely not an expert, but I would guess that the irritation was due to a lack of exfoliation. As long as the person was a professional I wouldn't be alarmed! My husband does mine and he's not exactly delicate. Each time we start the cycle over I get a little irritation but it lessens each time.

Exfoliate every day and it should help!

Yep, deep exfoliation before the waxing and since you appear to have that type of sensitive skin, try Bikini Zone cream(OTC) applied to the area right afterwards and also applied each day for 2 or 3 days.
