How far from Cancun ?

Postby alsey1122 » Tue Oct 28, 2014 11:16 pm

Hello,
We are coming for the 1st time in April and also wanted to go visit some mayan sites while in Mexico. Can you tell me how far you are from Cancun and what a cab costs to get there. Do you advertise any sort of excursions from the resort? Thank you for your information.

FYI - with current local taxi rates it's 450 pesos or $45 USD(depending on how you pay) for a one way trip from Desire RM into Cancun centro or the Cancun Hotel Zone (about a 30min ride depending on time of day/traffic).

You can book private tours for anything with one of this forums affiliate partners via this link

Or

You can book public(shared) tours right from the activity desk when you arrive at Desire RM

However, IMHO, why pay the top $$ to be at Desire and then go away from the action on an excursion - next time you come down book and stay in a cheaper place in the Hotel Zone for a day or two - do excursions/tours and then finish your real vacation at Desire 8)

Cokeman thank you very much for your information. This is our first trip to Desire and we were concerned we would get bored during the day (we tend to on like cruises etc..) and thought we might fill our time with other activities we enjoy doing. You may be right in the fact that once we get there we wont want to leave!

We worried about that on our first visit. "Maybe we'll book a day excursion somewhere..." we are now one week away from our 4th visit, and once at the resort, we have never thought about leaving. Not once. ;)

Since it is your first trip to Desire my suggestion is to not book any tours, etc in advance.

I think unlike other "vanilla" vacations you have been on you will find that there is really no boredom factor at Desire, if you do it right, lol - but if you do find your self restless for outside activity you can still book any tour right from the resort itself...

In 22 trips to Desire RM, Diane and I have never left the resort other than to sail, snorkel, dive or walk the beach. You would be surprised at how quickly the normal "desire" activities eat up the day.... And Coke is right - don't use up valuable desire time to see the sights.

I thought for sure I would get bored of the resort across 8 days. We left one day to go on the Cancun Boobs Cruise and we spent an afternoon in Puerto Morelos. I enjoyed venturing outside of the resort (Boobs cruise was AWESOME!) for a change of scenery but not definitely not out of boredom.

We are about to book our 15th/16th/17th trip (lost count) and we have NEVER felt like we wanted to leave the resort.
Take Coke's advice. Book a few days elsewhere and take your excursions from there.
