Garden View Rooms

Has anyone stayed in room 1411 or 1412? Does it have a good view of the ocean? Does it have that nasty step to the bed? Is the sink Vanity a good size? We have stayed in 1912 and loved the view and semi private balcony. Any and all information would be greatly appreciated!!

We have stayed in 1412 two or three times. It is one of our favorite rooms. It has a very good view of the ocean. The step down is next to to the bed and I cannot believe we have never had a misstep yet. And I do not think the vanity is any different than most rooms. It did not make a lasting impression on me.

Now here is hoping 1412 is ready for us when we arrive on Friday because that was our first request on our early check in.

Thank you for the quick reply!! It seems its the same as 1912 which is where we stayed last time. Hubby and I each managed to have a bad encounter with that step.

I was hoping this room had a bigger vanity and I find that there is a huge lack of space. Our first stay at Desire was in a middle OV room which was much more spacious.

Who can share the info about room 2013? Based on the resort map it is on the front row where all OV rooms are located. Why it is GV? Does it have limited view of the ocean? Is it smaller than other GV rooms?
We prefer to have bigger room, the 2nd floor and nice view. If the room is not so close to the pool of disco we can survive

I am assuming resort is not huge at all. Is it about 200 yards from edge to edge?
Which room(s) would be better for us? Do not think we are very picky! Just want to know better...

Room 2013 is upstairs on the back side of the building and is definitely gardenview. We stayed in 2102 last week and our bathroom window looked out to the stairs and landing.

What would it take to put a 4 drawer dresser in each of the darn rooms and put more hangers in the closets?
8 Years now and still this hasnt been addressed?

We stayed in room 2414 and loved it. It has a beautiful ocean view even though it is a garden view. We felt that it had plenty of storage... huge closet with some drawers and shelves along with many drawers in the low storage cabinets in the room itself. We packed significantly more than we needed and still had lots of room for everything. We would ask for that room again or even 2413 or 2415.

Have to agree with you Yankeefan. We stayed in 2012 last week and there was absolutely no drawer space. We always bring most of our clothes on hangers from home and dump the closet ones on the floor so we can hang all our stuff. Diane also brings a couple of collapsable boxes to store some things. To top it off we bring one or two over the door shoe storage hangers to hang over the bathroom door to keep toiletries etc handy.

How do we request the room? I tried to use resort's site: http://desire.originalresorts.com/contact.asp ("Contact us") and sent our request yesterday. I did not get any responses... Should I use any specific e-mail address? If so, what is it?

If you booked through a travel agent, of course they can make a request for you. But the easiest way to put in a room request is to use the express checkin feature on the Desire website:
http://desire.originalresorts.com/express_checkin.asp
In the comments/requests box just note that you would like to have one of 3 or 4 rooms (never list just one.) You can't use express checkin until 15 days before your arrival, but the room assignments aren't made until about a week before arrival anyway.
The express checkin e-mail goes directly to the Desire front Desk manager- who is the person who assigns the rooms.

Mike and Barbara, thanks a lot for your advice! We did it and got an automated e-mail back saying "...This will ensure your room and paperwork will be all ready, so you can start your Desire experience sooner."
Sooner is better
