New fee to visit from RM to pearl or visa versa

I certainly hope this is not the case in September with the renovation special..............the rates section of the site indicates "...... In addition, we will offer free transportation to Desire Pearl from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. so that our guests can have their fantasy of enjoying both Desires all at once come true......" I think some of those (us) who have booked already will be quite upset to be offered free transportation but required to pay $150 for a day pass

Upset? I'll be bloody livid! We've just booked 2 weeks in September, and the free transport to and from Pearl was a nice little carrot, just let them try to charge us.....

With the pool and a restaurant down, a discount offer explicitly stating they'll give free transport to Pearl during said time period, I cannot in any way fathom that they'd try to charge anyone the day fee those first three weeks of September....

It has come to my attention, via the Desire Resort Forums, that you now intend to charge couples staying at one of your resorts the extortionate fee of $150 to visit the other. How is this acceptable? If we as a couple are dining and drinking at one resort, we are not at the other, and therefore the cost to you is neutral. Also, it is surely a positive marketing strategy to allow guests, especially new ones, to visit the other resort. This is how we first visited Pearl, and immediately booked to visit there on our next trip. If we had been charged $150 to do so, this would never have happened.

Also, can you clarify the situation in September during your renovations.
"Likewise, our Desire Resort & Spa will serve lunch at the Reef restaurant for the week of Sept. 1st through 7th with a sensual atmosphere and the most delicious tastes. In addition, we will offer free transportation to Desire Pearl from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. so that our guests can have their fantasy of enjoying both Desires all at once come true."

Please can you confirm that there will be absolutely NO CHARGE to any guests at Desire that wish to visit Pearl during this period.

Also, as most guests are repeat visitors, many friends and acquaintances are often at one or other of the resorts at the same time, so to charge loyal guests for meeting up with friends at the other resort seems not only mercenary, but downright mean-spirited. The whole concept of Desire is to be free-living, all-inclusive, and focused on customer satisfaction. Well if this fee is to be implemented, this guest, along with numerous others, will be wholly dissatisfied."

We have written a protest letter to the resort, would advise everyone to do the same!!

Dear Sir/Madam,
It is with great disappointment that I feel compelled to write a letter of disapproval regarding your recent implementation of a $150us fee to visit Pearl for a day while staying at Riviera Maya (and visa versa). It seems to me that if we have already paid a respectable amount to stay at RM, then the items that we do not consume at RM for the day would be offset by what was consumed at Pearl. We are frequent guests of Desire and do not understand the reasoning for this "fee". We will be staying for 5 nights at RM next week and were looking forward to visiting Pearl for a day but refuse to pay the additional fee to do so. We have been Pearl guest on several occasions and have met visitors from RM each time. This is a bonus for both the RM guest as well as the Pearl guests. We understand, that when a take over is in progress, it's not possible to visit the opposite resort. But this fee seems unnecessary and exorbitant.

Also, as a professional courtesy to your upcoming guest, if a change in theme nights is anticipated, you should post the changes on your website PRIOR to implementing the change. A large amount of money and time are invested while shopping for your listed theme nights. How disappointing it would be, to arrive for a theme night and have a mixed bag of dress.

Please note, that the only way that we have been able to get information, is through forums and yahoo groups. If a changes is made, and a client has an existing reservation, an email should be sent notifying them of the pending change.

On our very first trip to Desire, we arrived in torrential rain, Cancun airport was flooded, it was a nightmare. We had had an 11 hr flight + a 6 hr time difference, I'm tired and very grumpy. We get to the resort, having booked a deluxe Garden suite, to be told, our room will be ready tomorrow, alarm bells! (It was flooded!)
We are then shown to, what we now know, is called the Haha room, because, well if you get it, HAHA!
It's behind the pool, upstairs, and is the smallest room I have ever stayed in! The door opened and actually touched the bed, there was no storage, there was only room for one of us in the bathroom at a time, I was totally pissed and refused to unpack (this resort isn't cheap right?), but after much negotiation there wasn't any alternative so we had to stay the night. Fortunately someone checked out the next day and we got our suite plus free massages they threw in, but for a first impression it was not good!
I have no idea why this room even exists, nobody would agree to stay in it! Pray it's not yours! LOL

Definitely not a great first impress of what we have come to know as a 1st class C/O, L/F resort! Certainly hope we do not end up in the HaHa room! Sounds more like the "WTF" room....
At any rate, we are looking forward to our trip in exactly NINE days!!!!
