What to bring...

Postby nexusteve » Tue Aug 19, 2008 4:01 pm

Apologies if this has already been posted (moderators pls remove if nec). I have had this copied from the original Desire forums and I thought it might be helpful to some. I did not create the list, just a straight copy and paste job.

TRAVEL DOCUMENTS / THINGS TO DO
· PASSPORTS
· AIRLINE TICKETS/VOUCHERS
· COPIES OF TRAVEL ITINERARIES
· HOTEL VOUCHER
· GROUND TRANSPORTATION VOUCHERS
· INFORMATION/VOUCHERS FOR ANY OFF-SITE TRIPS YOU HAVE RESERVED
· TELL YOUR CREDIT CARD COMPANY YOU ARE GOING TO MEXICO
· UNBLOCK INTERNATIONAL CALLING ON YOUR CELL PHONE BEFORE YOU GO

MEDICINE BAG
· Cipro or other prescription antibiotic – just in case. Most Doctors will prescribe it for you if you tell them you’re going on vacation in Mexico.
· Birth Control Pills
· Prescription Meds in Prescription bottles – in case you’re asked about them.
· Zantac or other tummy medicine. Most chain stores sell generic versions of Zantac for a LOT less $$
· Chaser from GNC to prevent hangover headaches; for a less-expensive alternative I’ve heard that taking Tums twice a day for about 3 days prior to your trip and during the stay also helps.
· Alka-Seltzer for the hangover
· Supply of the "temporary" dental filling (a kit you can buy for about $2 at Walmart). Don't want to experience that in a foreign country for sure!
· Allergy Pills – just in case
· Tylenol/Ibuprofin/Asprin
· Burn Spray and/or Aloe
· Imodium & Pepto Bismol
· Mosquito spray
· After Bite if you forget to put on the bug spray and get bites.

PERSONAL ITEMS
· Feminine Items
· Condoms if you are in the lifestyle or thinking about playing with others.
· Personal lubricants - I think Wet Platinum was recommended for use in the water.
· Sexual performance enhancers.
· Baby oil or massage oil to give massages on the beach beds.
· Personal Wipes – like baby wipes. Nice to have handy.

TOYS, ETC.
· Your favorite toys, but take out the batteries when you pack them.
· Batteries, lots and lots of batteries.
· Safe Suds for Toys
· We always take at least one extension cord for plugging in "whatever".

TOILETRIES
· Shampoo/conditioner
· Razors/Shave Cream/Nair, etc.
· Lotion
· Brush/Comb
· Curling Iron (don’t worry about a blow dryer – the rooms all have them)
· Hair Clips/Ponies
· Hair Gel/Mousse
· Hair Spray
· Toothbrush/Toothpaste
· Eye Drops
· Contact Solution & Extra Contacts
· Make Up
· Body Glitter
· Tweezers

CLOTHING - FEMALE
· Swimsuit/bikini tops/bottoms – for those who are a little shy or for the female monthly reasons
· A pair or two of shorts
· A couple of tank tops/t-shirts
· Panties – thongs, or whatever you’re comfortable/feel sexy in
· Sarongs/Pareos
· Thigh Highs/Hose
· Dressy Tops -- the sheerer/sexier, the better
· Skirts -- the shorter/sheerer/sexier, the better
· Dresses – the shorter/sheerer/sexier, the better
· Lingerie – for PJ night as well as for other times
· Outfits for theme nights, if you wish to participate
· Hat
· Shoes – Flip Flops, heels, etc.

CLOTHING – MALE
· CLOTHING? WHAT CLOTHING?!? LOL!!
· A pair or two of shorts
· A couple of tank tops/t-shirts – in case you burn
· Underwear (silk boxers are soooo sexy!)
· 1-2 pairs slacks – for the restaurants. Required for guys
· A couple of dressier, ‘Tommy Bahama’ - type shirts – again, shirts & slacks are required in the restaurants for guys. Also good for the disco.
· Hat/Do-Rag
· 1 pr. Shoes for the restaurant
· Sandals/Flip Flops
· Costumes, should you choose to participate

MISCELLANEOUS
· Camera – Digital, underwater, etc. Just be sure to get permission before taking pics at the resort.
· Jewelry – for costumes, etc.
· Lots of $1 bills if you are from the US and want to give tips.
· Books for reading during leisure/down times
· Gal size storage bag
· Suntan lotion and sunblock, including some for the lips.
· An over the door shoe organizer with pockets to store the items that won't fit on the bathroom vanity from KMart or Walmart.
· Insulated mugs for drinks from the bar.
· Sunglasses
· An extra pair of sunglasses if you tend to lose them.
· A hat for those who have thinning/no hair or to shade the eyes.
· Float toys for the pool/ocean.
· All the costumes/outfits for theme nights. Theme outfits are a must if you like to get involved. Otherwise just take whatever you would for a beach vacation, just less clothes!
· If you wear eyeglasses, bring an extra pair "just in case."
· Believe it or not... light bulbs! The lighting is not the best in the rooms.
· CD's with your favorite songs to donate to the disco dj.
· Extra pens in your carry ons; planes are usually short on them for filling out customs forms.
· Cell phone AND charger
· Beach Towels

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, and that's why between the 4 of us, we had 17 pieces of luggage, carry on's and bags. Everyone who posts a list we find something else to bring. Had an entire case from CVS/Walgreens. Everything in the friggin store was in that case. Almost every med known to mankind and them some. We call it our medical bag as Poor Russell will attest to. Whenever the Poor One is feeling ill, to "The Bag" he goes.

I swear, next May's trip will be light. 1 carry on, 1 suitcase and my laptop. That's it!!!!

Until it come time to pack.

Hi.

We were at Desire the first two weeks in June 2008 with a hugh amount/weight of luggage (more then 40kg)...cause it was our first time at Desire.

I also read a lot of threads about "the right" packaging list...and what we learned is:

80% of the time at Desire we were naked, the Disco was a great fun without complex theme nights outfits (next time i use the masquerading-time for better things). The only things we really used was stuff for personal hygiene and evening wear for the restaurants and the time after.

We come back in April 2009 with maximum 2 normal sized bags and max. 20kg.

Greetings from Vienna

The one thing we pack that doesn't make on anyone's list is a couple of really good bottles of wine. The selection at the resort isn't the best so its a small indulgence to have a good bottle for dinner or to share with friends.

Great list, nexusteve. We tried to strike-out things we thought were unnecessary and could find very few things to strike-out.

The big thing in terms of weight and volume is for the ladies to TRY and reduce the number of pairs of shoes they bring. If you take a different pair for each outfit, given a different outfit for each evening (Marci's minimum), that's a lot of shoes. If it's not sacrilege to you, try taking shoes that go with multiple outfits.

The only thing we would add is to take a slightly larger suitcase going to Desire than you actually need so you have room for the alcohol you want to take home with you. If you buy your alcohol at the duty-free in the airport on your way home, those with no connecting flights don't have to worry, but if you have to change planes en-route, you'll have to pack your alcohol into your check-in luggage when you retreive your luggage for going through customs at your first stop in the U.S. or Canada.
