Thinking of going in January

We’ve been to RM & DP 6 times but never in the dead of winter. What’s it like in late January? I know the weather will be cooler, but is the pool heated? Probably more time is spent in jacuzzi.

We have been going to DRM for the past 8 years during the periods of Jan 16 -Feb 5 usually for 10 to 14 days. Generally the day time weather is a mix of full sun to partly cloudy where you will want to get the sun screen on for the day. In the 10-14 days in this period you are interested in, there may be a few short thunder storms that drift through, but doesn't seem to 'dampen' poolside activities to much, when Daniel runs around gathering up the lounger towels and returning them half hour later. Some late January's there has been no showers or rain and warm evenings (relative to -30C where we come from). Except last year there was a higher than average thunderstorms in our 8 year 2 week period. The evenings have been anywhere from very comfortable at the lobby shows to some getting a light sweater or jacket on which has been a 50/50 depending on what seems to be the clear sky weather of that January. When there is precipitation, it seems to be mostly early morning and clears for the day or what seems to be more probability after dinner through the lobby show. As mentioned, other than this past Jan/Feb period, the weather is usually pretty decent, daytime generally hot, cooler evenings with the odd possible thunderstorm. Many returnees during this period of time and many new friends to join in.
Anyway we look at the weather, it beats the hell out of -30C in Canada in the great escape to DRM.
