We sent an email to Jorge specifically about stripper poles and he said they have had numerous requests and are working on a solution. While we would have loved to see the new disco, if they can work out the pole situation, having it outside will actually be a pretty neat experience in our opinion. Certainly much better than the hot box that the old disco was.

Anybody have any more info on the current completion date, or how the reno is going in general. Is April 10th still realistic ? Has anybody recently returned with some new info ?

Obviously, with over 5400 views on this thread alone, it is a topic of great concern.

Jorge, please provide an update asap in your available "Desire managment" section of this forum !!

Steve,

Disco update

We will be attending the week of March 20 to the 27th. We would love any information about the possible completion of the renovations. We had heard a rumor that it could be completed earlier than April 10th. We did get this from our travel agent that just returned from Desires the first week of March with the APG group. Not sure it she was serious or just trying to keep our hopes up.... I will say that she told us that the resort had done a really good job with the temp disco and playroom. I think having the disco on the first floor and beds near the pool sounds like a nice change from the hot smelly disco before.... and not having to navigate those stairs in my 4 inch pumps will be nice too. We are looking forward to trip #7 to Desires. Disco or no, we are certain we will have a great time.

We were at Desire (4th time) in late February and it was by far the best of our stays. The disco at the temporary location was OK, fun enough. But what made our trip so great, in addition to the amazing couples we met, was the temporary location of the playroom. Before, the disco playroom was, in our experience, seldom used, and limited to the disco hours. The new playroom, next to the hot tub, was perfect. There were couples using it from 4PM on. You don't have to wait until the disco opens to use it. And by "couples using it" we don't mean 2 or 3.
Every day we were there we saw, from the outside or the inside, several beds used for swinging, plus the occasional single couple one, plus the occasional group sex one. (Needless to say, not once there was a problem or even tension).
We sense that part of the crowd may be at their best before 10PM, and some may be at their best at 4PM AND at 7PM AND at 10PM. And for many folks, after connecting and warming at the Jacuzzi at dusk, a move to the playroom is perfect (rooms feel so far away in those circumstances!). So for all those folks, a playroom independent from the disco (and ideally close to the hot tub) significantly increases the quality of the DESIRE experience. It certainly did it with ours and the couples we socialized with. As the administration put it: "OUR PLAYROOM IN A COZY TENT ON THE JACUZZY LOUNGE TERRACE ( IMAGINE – JACUZZY AND PLAYROOM ALL IN ONE PLACE ! )"
So we are hereby starting a plea for a multi-hours, autonomous, not-far-from-the-hottub, essential playroom.

Lau & Gus,
How is this new temporary playroom different than the half dozen beds that have always been located across from the hot tub- and that have always been used for sexual encounters of all kinds (we've had to wait in line many times to get one) ?
Have they re-arranged something or put up temporary walls of some kind ?

Well, looks like the temporary disco and playroom won't be needed much longer according to Jorge.

"We know that many have been waiting for new word about the disco
renovations. We are excited to be able to tell you that the work is going
very well, and we we now plan to have the disco back open for you
in the final days of March ! "

It looks like the remodeled disco and playroom will be open by the end of the month. I am really anxious to see the changes they have made...they were needed.

Mike and Barbara,

A few differences:

1. The temporary playroom is a tent containing 6 or 7 (we think) good-size beds.
2. As such, it's semi-private in the sense that only those venturing into the tent see you.
3. It makes moving from one bed to the other easier.
4. Towels are provided inside the tent and in colder evenings it's warmer inside the tent.
5. For those who like it, the playroom is perfect for group sex (more than 2 couples). We have never seen group sex and rarely 2 couples playing before late night in the outside beds.

The people we talked to found that semi-privacy ideal, among other things, because your joining or being joined by other couples is a bit more intimate, and your being politely turned down a bit less embarrassing.

Just hypothetically1: You are in a playroom bed with your partner and your neighbors, a young hot couple, are getting cozy between them while looking at you insistently. You notice, and after some mutual smiling, you invite them to join you and they do. Then you learn it was their first time. Very unlikely that would have happened in the outside beds.

Just hypothetically2: You are in the Jacuzzi with another couple you met and played with before. There is a very hot third couple that looks part of a group, but starts talking to the four of you. After a while, you tell them that the four of you (you and your friends) are going to the playroom, and that they are welcome to join you if they want. They say they may join you in a few minutes. You start your foursome and ten minutes or so into it, you find yourself in the middle of a steamy, delicious six-some. Very unlikely that would have happened in the outside beds.

If you got convinced, join our plea for the permanent, autonomous playroom!

Salud!

Lau & Gus- thanks for explaining, now I understand.
Before I join your plea though, I'll wait to see the new playroom off the disco. As we understand it, it's in a totally different part of the disco and will be much more open and airy than the old room.
I get your point, but the open beds in the hot tub area have their charms too. We've had a lot of great times there under the stars with a nice cool breeze blowing thru in the hotter months when you really needed it.
Besides, what would all the exhibitionists and voyeurs do without the open hot tub beds ?

Just heard from someone who returned on Saturday, and they said that the tented play area was across from the lobby bar. Since they were first timers, I double checked to make sure they meant lobby bar and not hot tub area. Perhaps they've moved it?? I'm guessing it's either where the swinging beds were, or under the large thatched roof which served as a seating area at night.

If they hold to their schedule, we should be there for the grand re-opening of the disco!! We head out on Wednesday and will try and post an update.

Please do! We got a message from Jorge saying that the new playroom would be open during the day, independently of the disco. We are a bit confused on location and functionality but hey, it's going to be fun one way or another.
