Has anyone started the party early in the limo on the way to the resort?

YMMV, but for us, once we've gotten through the gauntlet of immigration/customs/timeshare and chaos outside the airport, it takes us good 30-60 minutes to decompress and settle in to Desire frame of mind. The other factor is that we know of people who have run in to issues on the highway during the transfer, so we tend to stay reasonably alert. Once we get to the resort, get our sparkling wine and wristbands, we can start to embrace the sexy and shake off everyday life cares.

What kinds of “issues” have occurred during the ride to the resort?

2 different stories, I'll try to be brief.
2014: we reserved for the nudist catamaran which departs from Marina Maroma; in the way back from Maroma to Desire, I encouraged my wife to do a show to the driver, who was very pendient through the mirror. As she only wore a pareo, it was very easy pretend that it opens accidentally several times during all the trip; she made the day to that kind man!
2015: we drove from our apartment in Playa del Carmen to Desire. As it was early, we knew our room would not be ready, so we were dressed properly for going directly from check in to the beach. My wife wore white gauze pants, no undies, and a suede triangle top. I dared her to take her top off while I charged gas, for the enjoyment of the gas station guys; she accepted just to open it and show almost all her boobs. Once on the road, I told her she was tame; she looked at me with a raised eyebrow and untied the top strings, throwing it to the back seat. "Am I what?", she said, and started to tease me while I drove. Crossing Puerto Morelos town was very exciting! We arrived to Pearl, the face of the guy who opened her door was priceless! Once we were sat at the check in desk, the only comment from the girl attended us was: "you are not coming from the airport, I guess".
