So what are the must haves to bring with for a first time visitor? Cups w/ lids, bug spray, etc.

We have trip 6 coming up later this year. First trip we way over packed but there are things we always bring. Be sure to pack plenty of sun screen. We do bring a small can of bug spray but have never had much issue so far. Insulated cups with lids are great to keep drinks hot or cold but find ones that are easy to pack. Small bag to carry things you may need at pool or beach. Several pairs of sunglasses. Wife brings sarongs and a couple of bikini tops for day times. Pack whatever meds you might need, they have at the gift shop but with a markup. If you enjoy toys as part of your play, bring a few of your favorites. We also pack a jar of coconut oil for many uses! :-) Biggest thing we learned was not to over pack clothing. Found after our first trip that we didn't need much. Do be sure to bring long pants, collared shirts and closed toe shoes for the male half if you plan on eating at restaurants other than the buffet.

You have received some great advice from others on here, Agree with earlier post about packing to much, after all you will either be nude or in your swim suits almost all day. Out side of that one of best things that we started taking is a insulated glass or tumbler that keeps your drinks cold. We found ours at Walmart, they are about 16 oz. with a lid that closes to keep things cold. Cost about $10.00.
At night I can put ice in the glass and there will still be some ice 12 hours later. It keeps us from drinking to much as the drinks stay colder longer and we don't feel like we have to hurry up and drink them before they get warm and watered down by melting ice.

Got it. Very little clothes, cups with lids, sun block, plenty of lube, and a bag of sex toys. Man this is going to be fun! :D :D

My wife is super outgoing and “ everyone is a friend”. Not going to lie tho, we are a little nervous. We just plan on taking it all in and going with the flow. We like sun, cocktails, and making new friends. Mexico has ever been a bad time.

Your plan is absolutely perfect!
Honestly, you don't have anything to worry about. Other than falling in love with the place and committing to each other that you'll be back every year (this happened to us our 2nd day there).
But really, no one will try to get you to do anything you don't want to do. They may ask nicely once, but they'll graciously accept a 'no thanks'... you'll see!
