Wanted to start a thread for those who are there to share there observations. We are planned to go in August and we will be anxiously watching to see how people’s experiences are. Thanks!

We are also going in August and are curious as to how things are going with the reopening.

Late July early August, hopefully will be close to normal by then.

Admin Note: Desire RM does not reopen until June 8th - frankly, given the circumstances, I doubt any are even really booked for opening day....

I thought RM was reopening on June 4. What did I miss?

Same here. Not sure what I missed. We were booked to arrive today and decided last week to rebook since we were not confident they would reopen. I’m very curious as to what changed with their opening date.

There have been first-hand reports on another platform, and everything is apparently the same old Desire. Just the staff in masks, and frequent and visible cleaning and sanitizing occurring. Occupancy only around 20%, according to a membership team member, so it remains to be seen if anything will change once that goes up.

20%... so around 23 couples. That's very low. We had 35% occupancy for one night on our first visit and it was really dead, as in veterans were saying the've never seen it that dead. Hell, we've had groups around that size. To put it in perspective if that was the occupancy on our last trip we would've taken almost half the resort to Pearl for the day trip.

This was the #1 reason we haven't considered booking just yet. Of course this only matters if you prefer a full resort. If Desire is a nice quiet get away trip for someone then of course this works, but my hunch is that most Desire visitors don't fall into that demographic.

I messaged a couple on another site and they said about 20 couples when the arrived on the 5th of June (not sure where people are getting the 8th as opening date) but was to be up to 50% capacity by Sunday the 7th. Staff wearing masks but everything else seems the norm.

We will be there for a few days next week to check out what's new, who's still there, etc.

Unfortunately 50% is not possible as northern Quintana Roo is still in orange status through next week, so legally limited to 30%.
