We are scheduled to go August 01 and have some strong concerns if anyone will be there. Guess we will continue to watch the forum. Thanks to everyone who has posted.

Just going by information the person, who is at the resort, told me which was relayed from staff.

As many of us receive, yesterday’s Room 77 podcast (Richard and Lauren) give a good update of what’s happening at RM now. They cite about a 20% occupancy rate. However as us Desire veteran’s know, it all depends on who is there and the party they bring.

We were at RM last week. Occupancy rates were in the 20-25% range (meaning 40-50 people were there). We got different stories on what their max occupancy can be. All staff are wearing masks and most are also wearing face shields with a few wearing goggles. A couple of slight consequences - it's sometimes hard to hear what staff is saying to you and, of course, it's a bit harder to recognize some people at first. Still, we were very happy to see many familiar faces back to work. Many that we spoke to had kind things to say about how the de la Pena family treated them during the shutdown.

The entertainment staff wore masks for most of their activities (or at least tried). That includes things like pool volleyball. The entertainment staff last week mostly consisted of Kevin, Pao, Javi and Candice (from RM). We also saw Shirley for one day and Kia for one day. Kia said that Charlie was doing well. They all have said that they are taking more days off now than their usual 1-1/2 days during normal operations.

We had our temperatures checked when we arrived at the airport, before we were permitted into the vehicle for transfer and upon arrival at the resort. Hand sanitizing was basically a requirement at each step as well, along with any time we entered a restaurant at RM. Handshakes and hugs are gone, at least for the time being. Elbow and fist bumps have replaced them.

With such low occupancy levels, they were rotating which restaurant was open for dinner. And, of course, the buffets are gone. Breakfast and lunch are now menu service. And, at least for the time being, the beach bar was closed. CC worked at the courtyard bar and sometimes the pool bar. Africa was back taking great care of everyone as usual. Even our transfer driver was the same one we had last time in January.

With the resort only being open for 2 weeks at this point and small crowds, obviously it didn't feel quite the same. But we still had a very good time and the staff took extra good care of us. The crowd that was there was fun.

Multiple staff members told us that their occupancy rate will improve as we hear the 4th of July weekend. Let's hope things continue on a positive trend.

Must be getting busier...we tried booking in early August and it was not avail, likely due to limited capacity.

We ended up booking for July 18. It’s like anything with Covid...likely not perfect but we will take anything we can get.

Thank you very much for this update. Been waiting for this type of report since they reopened. One question: Are they going to limit the capacity to 50% going forward? If so, for how long?

Curious to hear if the performers were wearing face masks.

We got differing stories about what their legal capacity is actually. One person said 50%. One person said 80% because they are a small resort. We are not sure what the correct answer is.

The bands and performers were not wearing masks, but they were also not near guests. As may have happened in the past, performers didn't grab guests from the crowd to use in their routines.

This didn't detract from what they were doing.
