Traveling with proof of recovery from covid

Postby Vixen and Him » Wed Sep 15, 2021 12:03 pm

We are headed to RM October 1-4.
We both recently recovered from mild covid after being vaccinated.
Does anyone have any experience traveling home with proof of recovery within 90 days?
Is it a simple process ?

Thanks in advance.

I'm curious to see responses to this thread as well.

From what I have read, you just have to fill out the CDC attestation form saying you tested positive, recovered, and have clearance from a healthcare professional to travel. However, I have no idea how it actually works in practice or if someone will ask for documentation. When we came back in July, the only person who looked at our negative test results was someone from the airline (I think) while we were getting boarding passes at the AA kiosk. I'm not sure how the procedure would be different without the negative results.

I am in the same boat as having just recovered from COVID in August in spite of vaccination. Per the CDC website, you should have a letter from your doctor clearing you to resume normal activities along with the lab test documentation (to prove within 90 days). And yes, it is the airline that checks this so you could always contact the airline just to make sure.

We are arriving on October 15 and flying back on the 19th. Since your trip is earlier than ours, would you mind posting your experience once you get back? Thanks so much.

You mentioned you both had it and recovered after being vaccinated? Honestly just roll on your vaccination card. It’s all anyone seems to care about anyhow……

I'm pretty sure that it is still a requirement to reenter the U.S. for a negative COVID test or proof of recent infection. Vaccination is not good enough (yet!). That is why everyone gets tested at the resort 2-3 days prior to return.

We have the proof of testing positive and physicians note for both stating we are good to return to work. I will report back how the process went.
Thanks for the input!
