Foam party

We're newbies and planing our first trip. We're curious about foam parties. All we know is that everyone's in the pool and some sort of foam is sprayed onto the surface. Can someone tell us what they really are? What happens? Spare no details. Thanks!

And we have heard it can't be difficult to breathe within the foam cloud? Anyone?

Foam party can be a fun time. We've been 4 times, made sure to be there for the foam party each time. We are not tall, so we've stayed on the edges for the most part and had no issues breathing.
The energy gets sexy for some. Playmakers work extremely hard to keep things fun.

Feel free to ask specifics, but that's all I can think of right now.

Not really an issue but DO NOT dip your head into the water to clear your eyes! You can stay as far in or as far out of the foam as you want  You can wear a hat or whatever to swipe the foam away. Experience not to be missed :D

We were just at RM over Thanksgiving and got the see the RM version of the foam party. The pool at RM is smaller overall compared to the pool at Pearl. As a result, there's less area for the foam to drift to. If you're in the middle of the pool, you will have foam up to and probably over your head by the end of the party. Some people freak out over that. My advice is to wear sunglasses to protect your eyes and a hat with a bill to kind of shield your face from foam coming down from above. If you wave your hands around in front of you, you can clear a path ahead to see/feel what's in front of you. It's not for everyone and many people stick to the sidelines to just watch from a distance.

Some sort of eye protection is definitely key. I saw a tip on here once, but if you get overwhelmed by the foam, try walking backwards instead of forwards. It opens up a passage for you to breathe without bubbles. You might bump into some people, but it's the foam party, so maybe you'll make a new friend as well? ;)

What day is the foam party @ RM?

The foam party at RM is on Friday. They have a big cannon that they put on the edge of the pool. They start filling up the pool with foam in about 10 minutes the foam by the cannon is about 5 feet high. The pool is around 4-5 feet deep so the foam is 4-7 feet above your head. People will go into it and you will completely lose them. If you splash water you can build a tunnel to get through the foam. If it gets overwhelming you can just go under water and swim to the side.

When they first started doing it, they set it up by the lobby bar late at night. People would just get naked and dance in the foam. You didn't know who you were next to so hands would be everywhere. The problem is that the ground go so slippery, that people where slipping and falling everywhere. There are a couple of large concrete things in the middle of the area that people were falling on and getting seriously hurt. Then they moved it to the pool.

You also cannot breath when you're in the foam - it's similar to trying to breath under water...

Another thought: there are a number of floats in the pool you can push in front of you to clear a path ;)

We wear baseball caps and Ray Bans. Seems to keep the suds out of our eyes pretty well.

As stated above splashing water in front of you will make space in front of you to breath easier. However, putting your woman on your shoulders will get her head above the foam, and probably a little extra attention.

If you wear contacts you might want to take them out beforehand. Red irritated eyes are my experience.

And if sunscreen is your best friend you may want to apply before and after the foam party. The foam seems to strip it off completely.

Might be all the accidental contact rubbing off the sunscreen. 8)
