desire and extra charges, beach beds for instance

Postby aandk4fun » Tue Jun 08, 2010 12:04 pm

so the wife and I are interested in booking something for our 10 year anniversary in October, have been reading about Desire and have some questions...

have read that they charge $20 a day for the beach beds?? is this true?? how can a place that is quite expensive already justify charging extra for this?? if this is true, what other things do they nickel and dime you for?? with most all-inclusives in this price range we've experienced, you just show up and if you stay on the resort, other than a few tips, you shouldn't have to pay for anything....

how is the alcohol selection? is it really premium? (absolute or better vodka? captain morgan??), or is it local stuff that all tastes like tequilla???

what about beer and wine selection?? any good?

thank you for your answers

Capt. Morgan has never been on that list, but they've had it when we've been there.....

Beach Bed/Chaise Shade Problem/Answer

Postby DandAEastTexas » Tue Jun 08, 2010 3:27 pm

I love the sun/wife hates it. What used to be a "let's come up with an answer that no one will like" solution has been resolved by purchasing a cheap easy to pack "clip onto the back of your chaise/chair" umbrella (lot's of 'em on eBay and at your local Bed, Bath, and Beyond type places). It stops a lot of sun...and a lot of potential problems.

When we were there in May, they actually only had the Sauvingnon Blanc and the Cabernet. No Chardonnay and no Cab-Merlot. The wine was not very good, I must say. We drank it anyways, of course...
