Sorry - It's A Pool Chaise Question - Sorry!

Postby DandAEastTexas » Sun Jun 13, 2010 1:32 pm

As mentioned in my caption....Sorry! It's just that I honestly enjoy the hell out of sitting myself down on a poolside chaise lounge and pretending that I enjoy reading while waiting for the Viagra (just bought the generic mail-order kind....IT WORKS!!) to kick in.

There seems to be a heck of a lot of posts addressed to the issue of pool chaise lounges...RESERVED by the day RESERVED by special VIP groups...and honestly...I don't know what's going on (not that I ever do).
Each post seems to conflict each other.

I'm one of those schmucks who wake up early (usually while the guys are cleaning the pool) give my name - get some towels - and pick a spot.

WHAT'S CHANGED....and what should I look out for (or comply with)?? Will be down starting on July 1.

Thanks

Don

It makes sense and thanks for the link, Coke, but ... you will still get the Premiere Members reserving lounges in the Premiere area as well as reserving lounges anywhere else they want to be (folks tend to move with the sun / shade). They also have reserved beds on the beach.

I do agree in that if you are a Premiere Member there should be some perks that come along with that - you are paying extra for those perks - but you will still get those "inconsiderate" types who don't give a hoot about anyone else but themselves.

What happens if the Premiere Member befriends a (group) non-Premiere Member and wants to hang out with them at the pool? Which side are you on then?

amazing, the cost of a vacation at this resort and a quick bang for the buck analysis shows that it's overpriced and the amenities are sorely lacking

we've got a reservation for next october that we are considering canceling, we made the reservation and now have been looking at other all inclusive resorts that we can get for the same or less money and the options really blow this place away

the premium paid at this place for the ability to let your cock hang out is a huge.....

nope never been...

but seriously, if the chair issue is so big, which really, is a minor thing, we can only imagine what other issues may arise

some people may be willing to compromise quality or overpay for subpar amenities for a certain atmosphere, sorry, thats not us....

we have a reservation for october, through travelocity, so far according to travelocity its 100% refundable, we will monitor happenings at the place and decide later.... there are just SO many other options in this price range....

I'd be interested to know what the other options are that you consider comparable to Desire.

We've been to many all-inclusive resorts and none are even close to what Desire has to offer.

We didn't have an issue with the beds at the beach or the lounges at the pool but we're not really pool people and the resort wasn't full. We were there Nov '09.

However, it sounds like the whole procedure in getting a pool lounger has changed. Maybe, though, with all the complaints here, Desire management will look into a different procedure.

But for the time being, if I was booking Desire now, I would make darn sure there wasn't a large group going (or a takeover).

So, you're making your judgements based on what you're reading now concerning the chair situation....and now are worrying about everything else that could go/will be wrong? Have you read anything else to to indicate there are a myriad of problems? No. We head back at the end of July and aren't worried about a thing...except for the constant little nagging issue that there's always a chance of a hurricane. If you're going to worry about what other "issues may arise", and you have "SO many other options", you should just go ahead now and pick someplace else......

WOW - Kinda' sorry we brought the pool chair topic to the front. In fact we ARE SORRY...as it appears to have caused a lot of angry words between people who didn't cause the problem and certainly can't fix it.

NOT having a pool chair is NOT a big deal. Of course, unless, it's YOU who doesn't have one. THEN it IS a BIG DEAL.

NOT being able to sit next to and lounge with your friends is NOT a big deal. Of course, unless, you enjoy spending time sitting next to and talking with your friends. THEN it IS a BIG DEAL.

Management's nothing less than $tupid idea to increase revenue by taking chairs away from normal guests (well, as "normal" as can be) is NOT a BIG DEAL....it is however an spit in our face insult.

Folks who pay extra $$$ should receive extra services...no one would disagree with that. But the very concept of the word EXTRA means "in addition to what everyone else gets"... NOT an ass backwards Robin Hood idea of stealing from the poor and giving to the rich.

I have little doubt (and a whole lot of faith) that the couples who were "sold" a bill of goods and bought the PREMIER package had no idea what kind of hornets nest they were entering. Sure, there may (statistically) be a few actual schmucks who enjoy being viewed by the rest of us as actual schmucks...but my guess is that the majority, when told the facts of life would be ashamed to sit there.

Going in 10 days. And then I will get to see first hand how this devisive policy actually works.

Interesting. It seems that in some guests eyes the resort is perfect, cannot do wrong and is the best deal around. Well it's an overpriced boutique type resort that caters to boutique type travelers. Until there is some legitimate competition people will still go and pay the price. I will not. I guess that's everyone's choice. I'm not banging the place, I just won't spend that ridiculous price for a weeks worth of nakedness.

Well...we went the end of May; our first time there and we had a great time! We are not "boutique" type (whatever that means), in fact we have two kids in college and are on a limited budget. We didn't spend any more there than we would have paid somewhere else. We did book fairly far in advance and through a travel agency which helps keep the cost down.

The resort was fully booked, and we NEVER ONCE had an issue with the pool chairs. We even were "off campus" one morning and didn't return until lunch time, and we were still given chairs.

Everyone was very nice, considerate and our stay was pleasant. I'm certain we will return next year when our bank account says we can
