Sargussum Weekly Update

The Sargassum has been a problem lately. Aside from being a nuisance causing odor and visual impairment it causes to the beauty of the beach and sea, it can also be a health hazard as sea creatures or foreign debris can be caught up in it and cause bodily injury to an unsuspecting person. Also, it just doesn't feel good to step on or into. :(

* I appreciate the work of the DRM and DRMPR staff who manually clean up a layer of the Sargassum. It is a never ending job. I just wished that Management would consider making a clearing in the Sargassum instead of clearing out a layer so that guests can safely and easily get into the beautify sea. Just my opinion, hopefully someone can pass the idea on. :)

* Most important, can members please provide an update with their observation as time moves forward?

Have a great day everyone! :) :) :)

This website shows sargassum activity. It has pictures and an interactive map: https://sargassummonitoring.com/en/official-map-2024/

Just left RM today after a fun week. Sargassum was present but not bad. We were able to get into the ocean each day without issue.

Any real time update as of now. Curious if hurricane Beryl cleared up any of it.

It’s pretty bad right now. Occasionally someone takes a barrow of it away but it never gets cleared.
