Worried about hurricanes?
You really don't need to be...
Hurricane Beryl arrived during our recent stay. Making landfall with 110 mph winds just south of the resort. Here was our experience:
The staff began removing outdoor furniture, placing sand bags & a few boards during the day of the storm. The evening entertainment was moved forward to afternoon. Dinners were offered in two restaurants only. State mandated curfew was 11pm but they kept dance club open to the last minute (even as we occasionally lost power since storm started around 9pm). At some point sandwiches, snack bar, fruits were put in our room for breakfast. Overnight obviously could hear the storm, sounded like someone banging on doors & windows, but very very little rain made it into guest rooms...
Next morning: People started walking the property to check out the damage around 10am. Lots of water & branches and few roof tiles was about it. Minor flooding in the gym. They opened one restaurant for lunch, and drinks/activities started again in main lobby around 2pm. Jacuzzi was reopened at 4pm (but cold because of rain). Main pool not until next day. Two restaurants opened for dinner, and from there everything on schedule as normal...
Yes, you may have issues with flights. Yes, road to resort will be flooded, but passable (if you're the rare guest driving). But the staff is 100% ready for it and your reservation will not be preemptively cancelled. All my wife's concerns quickly disappeared, and in fact the added excitement only made the overall trip that much more special. As they say, vibes were immaculate.
TLDR: Resort prepares for and recovers from hurricanes like a well oiled machine. Your safety and comfort will never be in jeopardy.
