My wife and I will be at DRM for our birthdays this year. Is it worth letting them know ? Do they do anything special for couples celebrating birthdays? We've seen banners on doors but weren't sure if they provide any other perks or gifts. Any information would be great, thank you. J&J

nope - at least not for us. we've gone two years in a row for my wife's birthday - and they ask and get all excited about it - but then the most they do is spell out "Happy Birthday" on the bed while we're out. Wheee. E for effort I guess

... last year they spelled it out with a banner -- this year they spelled it out with grass/reeds. Heh.

Yeah. From our experience, absolutely nothing.
I was hoping for something special but maybe they don’t because everyone would then have a special day. IDK. But thinking about it, do other places do so? Perhaps create a paid service as an add on … another suggestion for DRM management.

We went to RM in December for my wife’s birthday. Mentioned it when I sent the reservation, reminded at check in, reminded the butler - Nothing. Reminded them for dinner reservation - Nothing. It was very disappointing.

I’ve seen two different birthday desserts at Sahlo at RM, one subtle and one obnoxious. For context, this was 2020-ish.
The subtle one was at dinner with some friends. I think the husband had asked the staff for a birthday candle thing. The waiter brought out one of the regular dessert cakes with a simple candle at the end of the meal. I think we may have sung happy birthday in a low-key manner. It was in line with the relatively classy atmosphere of Sahlo at the time.
The obnoxious one was a few nights later. A table of about 8 - 10 guests took over an entire corner at Sahlo. They quickly ruined the atmosphere of the entire restaurant. It was clear that the staff were falling all over themselves to cater to this table. At some point, the waiter brought out a medium sized cake with a fully lit sparkler-candle thing. It was like a poor man’s imitation of thermite. I think it may have also whistled while it was lit. I assume that they probably had their butler assist with arranging everything. I also assume that they probably paid somebody something extra to make it all happen.
Bottom line: If you’re willing to fork out the cash, you can definitely get a special birthday treatment. Otherwise, don’t get your hopes up.
