Arriving in a month for our 7th to DRM (12 to DP) but haven’t been to either desire in 2 years and definitely not at DRM since renovation, maybe 4-5 years. So after reading the forum this is what I can surmise - please correct or confirm
1. New area (Eden) is very well done and modern but lacks a certain appearance from natural Caribbean look/feel of older DRM
2. New pool and jacuzzi are much bigger than old ones and livelier thru the day
3. Old pool is the quiet side pool, calmer and colder with possible limited bar service?
4. Old jacuzzi is closed
5. Beach is about non existent and beach bar is gone
6. Few beach beds, but PDS still ok on them
7. Beach walks are tough to navigate at edges of resort - limiting traffic, but also making it tough to get off resort by beach
8. Playmakers are good just not as great during day as years past
9. Nudity and PDS is still dependent on crowd during your stay, but generally down
10. Restaurants are still good but kind of difficult to get into if not a member or really organized
11. Food still very good, but like anywhere depends on your taste ( we’ve never had issue)
12. Saying this membership (we are not) holds a greater strength in getting beds, reservations, etc than ever before
13. Seaweed /sargassum is better now then a few years back, but May could be bad month
14. Fantasy Menu items (stripper/massage) are very pricey and fun, but not as guaranteed “impactful” as they were in years past
15. Many normal American liquors (Tito’s, captain, etc) are still not available
16. New gym is located in old lobby and much better brighter and updated
17. Staff is still awesome and are only, if at all, limited by management
18. Not much has changed to old rooms
19. Playroom is very nice with separated larger beds, but is very open to main area causing much random traffic in front and also limits group participation due to beds and no couch vibe limiting easy access causing some waiting lines
20. Still is what you make of it

Changes and adaptation should and can be a good thing and it sounds like the growing pains from old visitors is conflicting at times with newer direction of management.

Im very excited to join my wife making our own opinions, but welcome any feedback those who have seen and visited the recent DRM may have.

So let's try again in tiny bits:
1. Yes, 2 very different styles
2. Yes, they are bigger.
3. Correct. Just a few couples there, in the water and the few beds around

4. Yes
5. Beach is fine on the south side in front of the old DRM. Beach bar is there.
6.There are around 20 beach beds on the south side. Sex has not been very popular these days but we were naughty yesterday and.today
7. Yes, very few traffic these days

9. These past few days full nude vs wearing something might be 50/50 or so, not as bad as previous years. At the beach it was more like 25% totally nude but the jacuzzi was better. Still too much clothing!
10. We try to be organized and never had problems with the restaurants. We have not tried them all though.
11. Yes, food has been good. We tried Kahlo last night and it was good but bearing in mind it is a Mexican food restaurant, we found the options very limited.
12. We are not members either and we've had no issues getting what we need.
13. It's still bad but the guys keep trying to keep the beach as clean as possible.

14. Very pricey. We have never paid for anything from those offers since all we need to have fun is us!!

19. Playroom is OK. I thought it was going to be worse based on what I read before but I think people can still have fun. Last night we were there at around 12:30 and there was room for more people.
20. Absolutely! We are having fun!!!

15 - Tito's was there last December and premium alcohol selection has improved at RM. If you are charging Eden rates & claiming 5-star, premium booze is expected. It may be in the fridge, it may be hiding behind the bar, just ask.

First timer back from just a few weeks ago...my comments below:

Enjoyed the "party pool" very much and jacuzzi was very nice in afternoon and evening. Not familiar with how it was before but no complaints here.

They had walk-up bar service at quiet pool, but not swim-up service that I saw

Beach was about 3 feet wide with seaweed. Didn't spend any time there.

6. Few beach beds, but PDS still ok on them
they are still there, but didnt' spend any time there.

7. Beach walks are tough to navigate at edges of resort - limiting traffic, but also making it tough to get off resort by beach
didn't see any non-guests walking along the beach.

8. Playmakers are good just not as great during day as years past
Can't speak to old playmakers, but gf made friends with new playmaker Leyda and got pulled into lap dance class beside the pool That was a lot of fun to watch. I had no complaints with playmakers.

9. Nudity and PDS is still dependent on crowd during your stay, but generally down
Plenty of guys in board shorts and girls in bikini bottoms, but most all girls were topless at least. GF transitioned from bikin to naked as the days wore on. It was all fine to me.

10. Restaurants are still good but kind of difficult to get into if not a member or really organized
Actally preferred the Tentazione buffet over the ala carte restaurants. And I'm not usually a buffet person but their tacos were so good...

11. Food still very good, but like anywhere depends on your taste ( we’ve never had issue)
Not a big foodie but again preferred the buffet over the ala carte menus at steakhouse and Mexican restaurant. Never go to try the asian one.

12. Saying this membership (we are not) holds a greater strength in getting beds, reservations, etc than ever before
We had a butler that helped with reservations, but honestly probably not worth it as we preferred the buffet options. Getting a poolside chair required early wake-up which my GF handled each morning. What a sweetheart.

13. Seaweed /sargassum is better now then a few years back, but May could be bad month
So much seaweed on beach...

Did the massage...it was very impactful....

15. Many normal American liquors (Tito’s, captain, etc) are still not available
They had Titos but I was disappointed in the bourbon. At bars best they had was Chivas Regal. Would have like something a bit more upscale. Maybe I just needed to ask for it.

16. New gym is located in old lobby and much better brighter and updated
Went to gym once and it was great. Very sufficient.

17. Staff is still awesome and are only, if at all, limited by management
Staff was great. no complaints.

18. Not much has changed to old rooms
Stayed in very basic garden room. Next time will likely opt for something bigger/nicer. Our room didn't have a table/desk or anything which I missed. But we didn't spend much time in there.

Playroom was fun...but yes when people enter from disco a sudden burst of music enters which can be distracting. Saw playroom get very busy with a line forming in middle for something...never found out for what.

For first timers I think we made the best of it!

Some of them are Temptation types and don’t even know they are booking a clothing optional resort.

And they will think it’s great because it’s a ‘step up’ from Temptatation. But those of us with history at RM know it is a big step backwards.
And it’s a slow death thing because while high levels of nudity encourages everyone to participate, high levels of clothed steadily leads to less and less comfort with nudity….and probably PDS. My wife has already refused to go back to RM because nudity is an important to us, and she became very uncomfortable with the very high levels of clothed males.

This is why we have mostly switched to Pearl. The Temptation types are looking for more “party” and choose RM over Pearl. Meanwhile, those of us looking for actual naked sex parties know that Pearl now provides more of the genuine Desire experience.

@NoKidClub- 100% correct! BB fights the clothing trend by being naked every second the rules allow! She’s even known to be naked in places the rules don’t allow, but nobody seems to complain! She does her part to keep playmates entertained and the sex in public!

That’s great, but not all ladies have the confidence to do that. For most their first question is ‘what will everyone be wearing’. Or in this case, ‘not wearing’. And it’s more than that. We all know that the fastest way to get comfortable with social nudity is feeling you are the only one wearing anything. So a high % matters.
