Privacy concerns at Desire ... will we be exposed back home?

Postby oknative » Fri Aug 27, 2010 7:53 am

We come from a very conservative area and both have public positions within our community; thus we are worried about those back home knowing we went to Desire. We love nude beaches and have even been to a swingers club but all when we are out of town and those were anonymous. We don't play with others but are excited about having others watch and watching others ourselves. We want to mingle with others at Desire but are worried about sharing too much information about who we are and where we are from. How much personal information is usually shared between couples at Desire? Is it possible to assume a new identity while at Desire with all the life details being the same just from a different area? I know this sounds lame but we want to go to so badly but are worried about our very public jobs in a conservative town.

we have the same concerns..we kept our real identity..(no stage names lol). i was surprised to see some of the professions there. ie: a federal judge, and a world renowned doctor. i think everyone respects everyones privacy. and they are their for the same reasons.

Take your first statement...if that's the case, right off the bat the odds of you running into anyone from home are remote....and anyone from that area that may be there is going to have the same concerns and wishes as yourself. If you construct a complete new identity, you're going to be spending an awful lot of time getting your stories straight so that you can both say the same things. Not to mention, you want to go to Desire and have the time of your lives, you don't want to be spending all your time making sure you're telling everyone the same thing.....or worrying that you'll slip up and actually tell something from your "true" life. You'll actually create stress for yourself.....as jnk said, you will be amazed at the professions you'll see and meet there. Doctors...farmers....lawyers...kindergarten teachers...politicians (we didn't hold it against them!!)...college coaches.....some from states even more conservative than yours. All folks who could have repercussions should word get out at home. So go, be yourselves, and leave the stress in the airport!

I agree with Powderfinger. It's really tough to keep up with the alternate identity thing and still really let yourself have the kind of vacation that we all go to Desire for. We too have met a lot of "public" people who couldn't afford to let it be known they go to Desire. But of all those we can only recall one couple who tried to use different names- the police chief of a good sized city. We got fairly close to them though and within a couple days there was a slip of the tongue and the real names came out.
We are from a small conservative town in the midwest- about 40,000 people. A couple years ago we actually ran into some people at Desire who- as it turned out- only live a couple miles away from us though we had never met before. When we were introduced and told them where we live, we thought the poor lady was going to have a stroke on the spot ! She almost fainted. But it all turned out well of course because there are very few of us who don't have something to lose if friends-family-the public at large knew what we do on vacation. So everyone at Desire really does respect that need for privacy.
Don't worry- go and enjoy !

On our first trip to Desire around 2003 or 04 we were petrified of being outed. We decided to change our occupations and the town where we lived. As luck would have it, the very first couple we met were not only from NJ but from the town we live in. Needless to say we were mortified but became less concerned as the days went on. We never did tell them the truth and have actually seen them around town a couple of times.

That was eight trips ago and now we share information with our desire friends that we don't share with some of our friends at home.

Overall, I would recommend that you tell the truth. It is a lot less stressful and Desire people are the best people in the world.

Ninth trip coming up on February 27th and we can wait.

Most people only share first names. If asked about profession, you can always say something vague (like you are in "education" when you are actually the president of a large university, or you are in the medical field if you are a famous heart surgeon). Most people respect your vagueness at Desire. As for actual hometown, you don't have to say that either. A simple "oh we are from Alabama" or "we are from Maine" is usually enough info for most Desire patrons. You can always share more info later if you wish. You might also want to have some sort of anonymous (yahoo, gmail) email address to share in case you want to keep in touch with someone that you have met but don't want to give them your .gov email!

My husband and I are not really too concerned about being "found out" LOL, but I do wonder what it would be like to actually run into someone we know. Anyway, my 2 cents on this is that when we are at Desire, 3rd time coming up in Oct, we really don't spend too much time talking about jobs, towns, kids, family, etc. We mostly spend time laughing and talking about things that you really can't talk about at home and that's another reason we love the people we meet at Desire. We are all there for similar reasons and then just like that...it all becomes so natural until...we are on our way home :( And, already making plans to get back, LOL!!! GO GO GO, you will love it!
