We will be heading down next month for a week and plan to pre-register.

Can we request a specific room or rooms?

We have a garden view room

Could you recommend a good room or building to request?

Is second floor preferable to first floor

Go to FAQ and print off the room plan.
Choose 4 or 5 rooms and ask the resort if you can have one of them. Do this now, and again when you do the advance check-in. Mostly this works.
Also say which blocks you do NOT want. Block 10 looks out over the driveway. Block 23 can be noisy in the afternoons if people are playing on the Tennis/Basketball courts.
Just about anywhere else is OK.

Just because there is a tennis court doesn't mean they play tennis, but yes once we saw people doing just that.
Mostly basketball though.

We were in building 23 and no one ever played tennis. We were not disturbed by any noise - we requested a quiet area of the resort and got it.

Just a note about requests - and this is not just at Desire - don't expect all your requests to be fulfilled. You may get all or just some of your requests, depending on availability.

Be fairly general about your requests (not so specific about room numbers, etc) but, if you do want to request a specific room, go ahead. Just don't think you will get it as it all depends on the occupancy and the timing of the guests arriving and departing.

We loved the room we were in but would be happy pretty much anywhere in the resort.

Used the tennis courts several time a couple of years ago. Only for Verizon cell reception which was good there. Last year reception good throughout the resort. We go in July/August and I will tell you the tennis courts are blistering!

The noise was from the bouncing balls ..... er..... the basketballs bouncing.
