Rebuilding of the beach

Any word on the beach rebuild? We are headed there in May and would love to be able to walk the beach at night without worrying about jutting rocks.

We hadn't heard from anyone that anything has been done yet. But I sent a note to Valentina this morning asking about the project. We'll let you know when she replies.

Valentina did write back. She says that the new
"barriers" were installed about a month ago. She even sent a couple pictures put it is very hard to really see much. From what I can see there are barriers both at the sides and well out in the water past the ropes/floats.
Apparently the permanent barriers are supposed to work to rebuilt the beach naturally over a time. Valentina says that there has been improvement already but that in another month or two there will be a noticeable change. I really don't know how it all works- but it sounds like it should be great by May. We'll be there in late February and we'll report back when we return.

We returned on December 19. They had a surveying crew that spent a day surveying the beach. We assumed it was to either monitor the effect of the HUGE sand bags installed all along the rope line and along both ends of the beach or to plan and add more to what had already been put into place. Not sure if we imagined it, but a day after a lot of wind the beach seemed to have a bit more sand at the high water line -- hope this is a good sign!
