We are heading down to cancun in 28 days(but whos counting)!! This time we are going down with another couple and we are wondering what would be the best way to get to and from the hotel?? It used to be a crisp 50.00 bill to get a taxi to the hotel and then 30.00 to get back to the airport, at least that is what it was last april, and but that was for one couple,,, what happens with 4 people does anybody know what the cost is? Or are we best to just rent a car.... We really hate doing the private car thing they offer thru desires, we have been stung paying for it in advance and then the airplane is late and they dont wait ... and then it is a hassel getting them to come back.. you know the story.... its an awful way to start a vacation....

Rai - the Taxi rates from the airport to Desire have gone up since last year - the new flat rate to Desire is now $65 USD

From Desire back to the airport in now $32 USD

Since you are essentially paying for a private car the rate is the same regardless on the number of passengers - the only thing that might be a problem is if you have a lot of suitcases between the four of you - the taxis generally have small trunks - LOL !!
