Rainy days?

Postby puckboy » Sun Nov 09, 2008 9:24 am

We've got a trip scheduled to Cancun Deisre this week, but the forecast is for rain the entire time! Ugh! Just curious, what the hell does everyone do if it rains all day? I'm assuming the pool is vacant. Does the staff do any special activities? Complete bummer to book a nude vacation 6 months ahead, work out, eat right, all with the anticipation of getting a tan bum, only to keep clothed in your room while it pours. I'm betting the spa appointments book quickly! Has anyone experienced this?

:D Don't worry, the beach beds are covered! It never seems to rain all that long in Cancun, never all day. Please blow away the rain, we'll be there on the 14th.

Puckboy- we have now spent 96 total days at Desire spread of 13 trips during various seasons during the past 4 or 5 years. Believe me, a weather forecast showing rain every day is not unusual. But you can also believe me when I say that it is not something to worry about ! In those 96 days only 4 have been days where it rained for the majority of the day (2 of those in the same trip last January). Most days where rain is forecast you have quick little rains that blow in for a half hour and are gone just as quickly. That might happen a couple times a day and again overnight but usually you kind of appreciate the break from the sun.
On those rare occasions when it does rain all day- yes the staff has activities set up in the gazebo or disco- and the hot tub after 1 in the afternoon is a fantastic place to spend a rainy afternoon !

Mike and Barbara,

You forgot to add that those two days in January last year were also close to a record cold. Think I left paler than I came. We're back again the first week of this January hoping for fun in the sun.

Was it ever cold ! Kind of helped us decide to skip January in Cancun this year. So we decided to try Cabo, and 1 week later they announced the big change. Ah well, enjoy your trip, and if you have really good weather, maybe that will convince us to try January again next year !

Nawty- didn't mean to put a damper on anyone's anticipation. The New years eve before this past one was fantastic at Desire Cancun- sunny, highs around 80, lows around 68 for all 6 days we were there. Chances are, it will be great for you !

What do you do on rainy days? The same thing you do on sunny days! Go to the beach, pool or jacuzzi, grab a drink, get naked and jump in. We were there during a hurricane and had a great time. Your wet while in the pool or jacuzzi, you really don't notice the little bit of rain.
