Our question, the wife is looking have an encounter with another man and my promise to her is not to engage with another woman while on the resort, what are the odds of other couples letting the man play,,, also wife is shy,,,

The answer is: excellent. Pretty rare is the lifestyle couple that would necessarily have a problem with this arrangement. Attraction between individuals is a different animal, but if that's what you're looking for and you politely let people know, your odds should be pretty good. A number of factors (that I won't bother you with) can be involved depending on the couple, but a single woman (or in your case, a woman whose man isn't looking to play as well) is "sought after" and generally well-received. Just make sure you seem sane and reasonably comfortable (a little nervousness shouldn't be a problem) with it because nothing spoils the mood like drama or even a hint of drama, and experienced couples will know that and probably recognize warning signs.
