Do people actually wear swimsuits in the pool or beach area or is everyone basicly nude?

Kinda' depends on the crowd when you are there. There are a few swimsuits typically but on most of our trips, I'd say the majority are nude at pool and beach.

As mentioned, it really does depend on the week and/or the day. Some days a lot of men seem to wear something, some days some men wear nothing. Lots of days women are topless and lots of days the women are nude. That's at both the beach and the pool. And that can change hour to hour as well. Either way, you won't be alone no matter what you do or don't wear.

Anything goes and no one judges. I (Ms) personally can't wait to whip it all off but I'll wear a see through bikini to the pool and to lunch, then I get to do a strip tease! Guys are mixed, some wear boardies, some in hot pants, not many speedo's and lots of sausage. It's all good. Don't over think it, no one else does and honestly, no one cares.

We are naked at both the beach & pool - we do wear something to get from our room to the beach & bring clothes to put on for lunch.

When we go,to a nudist resort: Solare, Caribbean Reef Club, Desire, Hidden Beach or Punta Serena, we simply don't pack a swimsuit neither for me or my wife.
BTW, it brought a trouble during our stay, last year, at Fantasy Resort in Puerto Vallarta: the hotel hadn't a beach, so the third day, a couple of friends and us decided take a tour to Marietas Islands. So here we go, arrived to the pier in Punta de Mita and made arrangements with the owner of a boat. When we arrived to a place for snorkeling at the islands, the two ladies and I took our shorts and shirts off, and jumped into the sea naked, for the surprise of the boater. Our male friend had a swimsuit under his shorts, so he swam dressed.
When we went out of the water, we didn't have towels, so remained for a while in the buff, until our bodies dried.
The smile of the boat owner remained for several days, I bet!

Do bring something to wear for lunch. We usually wear our swimsuits and a tee shirt, or a wrap.

As a self-proclaimed bikini whore who brings a different one for each day, I always wear one with a sexy cover-up to breakfast and to the pool, then it all comes off. Goes back on for sand volleyball and lunch.
