Non-guests on beach shunned?

We are booked at a neighboring resort to RM. We have never been to Mexico together. I (husband) love to get naked. She wants me to be happy, but does not want the entire week to be about nudity. We do not have the money to travel like this again anytime soon, so we held off on plunge into Desire. All this said, we plan to walk up the beach and get some kind of feel for the vibe of Desire RM, without being consumed by it the entire trip.

We have no intention of being gawkers or of trying to horn in on the resort. We just want to have some time on the beach with the clothing optional crowd. BTW, I get that it is a public beach. She will be wearing her Wicked Weasel and I will have on something, not sure what yet.

Question is will we be shunned by guests, or might we be able to meet some possible friends?

From what I have understood being there twice they won't allow non guests hang on the beach. I have been told that if you aren't staying there they will ask you to leave. I haven't seen non guests hanging on the beach. I understand that they are very struck about it. I will say that ANY other resort doesn't compare to desire!!

You can walk along the beach in front of Desire

You can wade, swim in the ocean in front of Desire

What you can't do is linger on the beach - ie park your self on the beach for any period of time.

The Desire security staff will be observing you from the moment you enter the beach area from either the north or the south.
If you linger they will politely ask you to move on, if you do not it will become less polite.....

btw - simple fact, you will never get the vibe of being at Desire from walking past the place on the beach.

Yes, Yes. I understand that Desire is the only resort on the planet worth a dam. I also understand the resort does not want non guests getting "free" access to the resort. I also get the fact that the experience is not something we could get from walking by.

The question is more about he guests. Would the guests be interested in saying hello and chatting?

The next natural question is. Does the resort sell a Day pass. No question we are willing to pay for the right to experience Desire.

It would not be cool to try to approach Desire guests that are lying on the loungers or beach beds. But in general(after 25+ trips) I'd have to say - If you are walking by and other Desire guests are walking on the beach at the same time and you want to chat with them, most will stop and talk with you.

fyi - Day or night passes are not offered at any of the Desire properties.

If we were there the same time you are, we would gladly talk to you. Most Desire guests would be more than happy to chat with you but, as mentioned, it's not too cool to walk up to the beds to chat with folks unless 'invited'.

You may also meet up with some of us Desire guests who tend to walk the beach, off the Desire property. Just look for the 'tell-tale' wrist band (many of the Desire guests wear them on their ankle - a sure give-a-way).

I would contact the hotel directly if you wanted a Day Pass or make arrangements for a tour of the property. You just never know what arrangements they'll make for you.

Just a fyi - Desire officially discontinued purchasable and any other type of day/night passes in late 2008 in order to provide their guests a private vacation experience - sure you could try to ask for a tour of the property, but the likely answer will be "no" for the same reason as above.

Super sweet post Miranda, Thanks. That sounds like the way to go. I would imagine the day pass thing is not likely, but I might just try to email them about the possibility.

What you posted, and the way it was worded, sure sounds like the people I have expected to see at the resort. If you are walking the beach Jan 15 to 22 please do say hello to the couple who look deeply in love. She is a stunning blond and I will be looking at he with love and desire.

As noted by Coke and Miranda, it's entirely possible that if you happen to walk by the resort and your lovely wife is wearing a WW bikini that most likely you'll get someone coming up and saying hello. Funny thing is that lots of lifestyle peeps enjoy the chatting to "vanilla" couples to see where the conversation might go. We enjoy non-lifetstyle couples asking questions and seeing how excited they are about the possibility of giving it a try! Most (if not all) of the first time Desire guests we've talked to over the years said it was much classier than they imagined and were upset that they let their nerves/reservations get the best of them to not visit sooner. Warning though, after your first vacation at Desire, it will be difficult to vacation anywhere else.....it has become a two to three times a year habit for us!

eddieandjojo, That is sort of what I had in mind. We tend to get looks and lots of couple seem to want to chat with us when we are out in any situation. My wife does enjoy being seen and exhibitionism and it would be great if someone from the resort would want to help us with that fantasy.

We will go on our "Vanilla" vacation and enjoy it. If we are feeling the desire to be seen, we will walk up the beach and see what happens. I can't wait to spend a week taking care or her and relaxing together.

My wife and I will be at Desire Jan 9th to the 18th. Since we are beach people, chances are we will be on the beach as you're walking by. Chances are we'll be watching you (or at least I, the male half, will be watching). One of my favorite things at Desire is to watch non Desire guests walk by. They usually fall into 3 categories. 1-they just turn around and walk the other way when they realize what they've stumbled into 2-"eyes forward, if I don't look at them they won't look at me" and 3-disrobe at the property line, walk the beach, and get dressed at the other end. And one thing we've learned is you can never tell which couple (or group) is going to do what. We enjoy watching them all, and would have no problem chatting with any of them. I really can't imagine any guest at Desire giving someone the cold shoulder. I don't think you could find a friendlier group of people anywhere.

Last January there was a couple who parked their towels on the edge of the water-line in front of the gap between the beach bar and the beach beds to the south. They spent several hours enjoying the sun in the nude ... two days in a row. They were not guests and staff and security were well aware of their presence. They did not stray from the waterline, though they took a dip once in awhile. They did not use the resort facilities or interact with guests. Had they started to mingle with guests I wonder if they would have been asked to move on.

Is there a rule about the beach being public up to high tide line? We assumed they were aware of it being a public beach and that the water is open to anyone.

For some reason the January trip had more lookie-loos than we have ever seen in over a dozen trips to Desire. It was downright crowded with groups walking across to gawk, children included. We figured someone came back to their vanilla resort and told wild tales which created the traffic jam. It is not appreciated when you feel like you are on display for the wandering non-guests. So if you do walk down expecting a warm welcome, you may not get it.

We had some dudes stand in the water checking the beach people out. It ended up driving us back to the pool. Don't mind the passerby, but don't appreciate the gawking.

I sure can understand your feelings about the gawkers. Thats why I started my question by saying that is not our thing. We are an open minded, loving couple trying to get a small hint of what a CO vacation would be like for us. We have enjoyed Nude beaches state side, and her biggest problem is the gawkers that show up. I guess it is the nature of the beast, but it does suck to feel "peeped at" rather than "seen".

We have a great vacation planned. Looking forward to snorkeling, beaching, drinking, going to PM, PARTYING!..... Creeping out the Sexy Desire folks is way down the list.
