Desire Resort Forums

Rumor has it that visits from RM to Pearl now costs can fare and $150.00. This is from some people who are down there now. I hope they change this policy because it shouldn't cost anything whether your booked at one or the other. Lesser resorts down in cancun allow you to use facilities at other company resorts. Anyone hear anything about this?

The cost of the taxi fare between the two Desire locations has been standard for quite a while - btw Desire arranged the special rate of $15 each way per couple, the normal taxi rate is $25 each way.

Can't comment on the $150 ???

Many other resorts chains that offer guests the ability to visit between resorts do charge if the visiting guests want to stay and have dinner in the resort they are visiting.

As of 2/28 from what I read. If that's the case everyone needs to email them their displeasure with the cost. A lot of couples like ourselves looked forward to visiting pearl or stay at pearl when Rm is booked up and go back and forth. It will also limit the party at pearl which is why more people don't book pearl to begin with.

If this is a truth maybe all the members could sign
and send a petition to management to eliminate
that cost or at least lover the charge.
Also how about visiting RM from Pearl ?

Visited Pearl from DRM Jan 27th and no extra cost but a $20 cab (per couple) each way. There was no 'special' cab price arranged by DRM.... Lunch there and spent the afternoon..

He heads over to Pearl tomorrow for the second half of his trip, so he may not have asked anyone about just visiting.....

When we stayed at Pearl for a week last July there really weren't very many visitors from RM at all, maybe a couple small groups, that didn't really stay for too long. We were also there for a good week, the place was rockin' and a great party. It wouldn't surprise me if they did stop the "stay at one visit the other" concept, seeing as they have the two resorts at different price points. Vanilla resorts that allow you to visit their sister resorts generally don't allow you to stay at their cheaper properties and visit the higher end ones either, i.e., stay at a Riu you can't visit a Riu Palace. However, stay at the Riu Palace you can visit any of their properties. Be curious to see, if Desire goes this way, will they allow Pearl visitors to still go to RM.....

Someone reported it from the desire march yahoo page. Like I said its a rumor, could be wrong. Apparently there has been some stink raised about it. As for riu and riu palace....desire RM and pearl aren't priced that differently to warrant it. Personally, pearl is a nicer property and we'd love to stay there one day, we are just waiting for the party to pick up a little. If you are booked at one and go to the other for the facilities and eat the food there, you aren't eating at RM so it is cost neutral to them. They shouldn't be charging for it. I hope the reports are wrong but if not, I'll write them a letter and I would urge others to as well. It's not a make or break thing necessarily but if they start charging for things like that, what's next? Desire is pricy as it is and I just don't want to see it priced so middle income folk like us can go. They are a business and you need to tell them what you like or don't like. Kind of like the glory holes discussion
We are going at the end of March....if we get verification either way we will let you all know. Could change your plans if you were planning on visiting pearl one day of your stay. I personally wouldn't pay 150 to go to pearl for a day.

Again, not trying to cause issues or say desire sucks or anything like that.....we love the place, both places. Just don't want to see something like that go away for no reason. Besides, what better free advertising could you ask for than to let people visit the other resort for the day?

If you can Cokemann, send the moderator a message and have him ask. If it's not true then I'm sorry, if it is then people should know for planning purposes.

I have - but in general most rumors are heard first on these forums so I'm somewhat surprised that no recent visitors that are also forum members have not reported this

Heading there tomorrow and will ask both GM's about this and report back.

We were at Pearl in mid- February and spoke to many people from RM who came to Pearl for the day. No one mentioned an extra charge.

Desire is a clothing optional resort for couples only that grants you an initimate holiday, but if you are already staying in one of our Desire Resorts, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a Day Pass at either Desire Riviera Maya or Desire Pearl at your convenience for $ 150 USD per couple.

I took it to read one of the OTHER Original Resorts properties in the Cancun area, but with the wording, "if you are already staying in one of our Desire Resorts" does seem to indicate either Pearl or RM given that they are the only two "Desire" resorts . . .
