Resort Updates

We just returned from another great trip. During our stay, we had the opportunity to visit the new GM of the resort. Here is some of the information we spoke about:

The pool construction set for this September will include the addition of a swim-up bar. The shallow circle of the pool will be converted into the bar and will include a dry bar.

There is new furniture ordered for the pool area, should arrive within a month.

There is new furniture ordered for the Melange Bar, should arrive within a month.

The air conditioner in the disco and the buffet area has been replaced.

There is a plan to put a priority on the roofs that need repair.

The area in the Melange Bar that had the swinging beds is currently being updated with new tile, new polycarbonate roof, but I’m not sure if the swinging beds are going to be used again or some other seating arrangement.

The rooms are going through heavy maintenance; they were working on the 1400 building when we were there. Each week, 2 rooms are worked on to include painting, replacing broken tiles, etc. They are currently about 50% done with this process and all rooms will be completed.

The food and beverage offerings have been worked on and we felt the food was the best we have experienced.

So, in the few months the new GM has been at the resort, many behind the scenes items have been worked on and now physical changes will soon be occurring. After our discussion with him, we are looking forward to experiencing these changes in our next visit. :)

That's great to hear. The real world has kept us from enjoying the Desire experience for awhile. so we look forward to our first trip to DRM soon. Our trips to DLC spoiled us for almost anything else so its nice to hear that the new GM is fixing up things that have been put off.

FYI, the new GM at DRM, Alberto Martinez, was the GM at DLC.

Thanks for the update! We arrive in two weeks so fingers are crossed that the new pool chairs arrive just in time for our trip. We'll post an update when we get back if these items are in place.

As far as we are concerned he did a great job at DLC and happy to hear that he is doing the same at DRM.

Thanks for the info my dancing fool friend! I hope the new pool loungers have cushions! I know the maintenance on them is much more difficult for poor Daniel when the rains come and go, and come and go...but they are so much more comfy on our bare butts! Laying around all day is hard work!

The swinging beds in the lobby are gone and have been replaced by non swinging beds....which in my opinion is better...I don't like the movement of the others, and the new beds can have the head raised if you want.

I agree with S & L. We were talking about it this week and the new beds provide the same ambiance as before but you don't get motion sick. Plus the backs of the new beds are adjustable so they're more comfortable to enjoy the nightly entertainment. It's just a shame that the area is not really used by guests during the day.

To address the noise issue that some have experienced in Sahlo, there has been some carpeting recently added to the restaurant to absorb some of that noise. We are early eaters when we visit, so we haven't had too much trouble with the noise level, but hopefully someone will report their experiences.
