Do you know what the pool design and dimensions will look like when the renos are done? Also, I hear a new resort is being built next to RM. If so, is it to the north or south, in other words, left or right when facing the gulf?

The design is the same as before, the shallow(kiddie pool area) is being converted to a swim up bar area, as far as I know the dimensions of the main pool won't change but there may be some modifications to the pool deck area around the former kiddie pool area.

Also, I hear a new resort is being built next to RM. If so, is it to the north or south, in other words, left or right when facing the gulf?

FYI - both Desire properties face the Caribbean side not the Gulf side of the Yucatan - lol
The new resort (adult only) is being built to the immediate(south) ie right of Desire RM, as you are facing the Caribbean waters.

Can anyone comment on the progress of the renovation. We are scheduled for a return visit to DRM Oct 6th for 9 days and we are very hopefull all will be complete!! The public comment for completion is Sept 23rd however we are concerned!! Not into a daily trip to Pearl for the pool.

I would think that the only thing that would prevent a timely completion of the project would be the weather. If you are arriving 13 days after the scheduled date, there is plenty of cushion for the unexpected, let's just hope that Mother Nature cooperates. Not to mention that Desire has a current sale on rooms that is promoting the opening of the new swim-up bar.

On the main DRM website under the "Special Deals" tab and look at the first deal, there are two very small pictures of what the new pool is supposed to look like.

They are hard at work. The entire site is surrounded by an 8 foot plywood fence. But you can see everything from the up at the hot tub. The entire structure over the lunch area is completely down and gone. They are working on the new foundation there. And the pool is drained with a bobcat hard at work in there. And deck area is totally being revamped at the same time.

There must be a crew of about 30 and they are at it all day long. I will post a pic or two later today or tomorrow. My guess is that they are going all out to hit that finish date.

It is great to hear they are serious about getting done !! Sounds like the plywood wall is a good idea as there are many distractions that could cause delays

They moved all the pool chairs down to the beach near the beach volleyball area. But quite frankly they really are not needed. The beach has just not been that crowded this week. I counted about 14 couples one afternoon earlier in the week. I think a good number head off to Pearl each day. We went yesterday and they make the transfer process very simple.
