I respect your point of view up to the point where you feel the need to declare supposed motivation on those who disagree with you. I assure you our comments were not inspired by any desire to be politically correct. It's possible that we're just more tolerant because that's the way we are...not to make anyone else happy or to be politically correct. A chicken and egg thing. :-)
It's also likely that you don't have any real information about which point of view is in the minority or the majority on this subject. You probably do know what some of the people you enjoy hanging out with...and those who enjoy hanging with you...might think. But there's a bias built into that equation. In any case, I'm willing to concede that I don't really know what the numerical split would be between those taking great exception to the idea that folks might want to wear swimsuits (for any number of reasons, some of which have been mentioned here) and those who would not take exception.
I do know that the resort sets the rules...and they do not agree with your point of view. So they, at least, believe there are more folks who either would rather wear swimsuits or who would tolerate those who do than those who find that unacceptable. They probably realize that it takes time for many people to get comfortable and believe being accepting is good for their business. If they believed their tolerance is unacceptable to the majority of their visitors, they'd be making a very bad business decision. Could be. If so, there's a great opportunity for a new resort to open with much more rigid nudity requirements...and Desire may lose customers. We'll see!
