so glad we found out about this. We basically ended up paying for 8 nights at 20% off (which was the same as buy 4 and get 1 free), and THEN, thanks to this promo, we got the last 2 nights FREE - saving over $700

what a great deal!

We just booked and saved also. Any thoughts as to why they did this?
Have to say, I'm damn glad they did. My guess is if they lowered their rates, they'd get the old capacity rates from years past.

One more thing...since its couples only, why post the per person rates? Makes no sense...just post the couples price and move on!

We already booked back in Feb for travel on Aug 29th through Sept 8th for 10 nights. We got the promational rate of $172/pp. Would we be able to get the 4th and 10th night free?

Well, we booked in March but up to 30 days before can cancel with no penalty. So we called them, made the point we were well before 30 days out so please give us the free night. We might need to shift our dates a bit, but able to get the free night. Good luck and be polite.

One simple word sums it up.....Marketing.

I am sure just about everyone here has thought the same thing.

As to free nights, would be great if they brought that back as they had years ago. However until their occupancy rates start to fall, simply no need to offer the special on a full time bases.

So, for those of you that can take advantage of the sale, you should. Go, have a great time, and post your trip reports back here for those of us that have to wait to go :D If you can not make those dates but want to go, you still have time to take advantage of another sale. The resort has once again pushed their Early Booking Garden View Sale cut off date back. It is now June 30th from June 5th, which started off in Early May.

Have a great day Everyone. We have to wait 138 more days before we can put our feet back into the sand at Desire.

For those of you asking about getting the special rate if you had already booked previous to May 28th- even if you had already paid in full: Desire did yesterday officially extend change the start date of the promo to make it retroactive. Regardless of when you booked, if it's for august/september you do get the free night under the promo terms. But you should probably contact your agent- or Desire if you booked direct- and
ask for it. Several people- including us- who did ask already have gotten our new adjusted invoices.

We have a September trip booked. I was getting ready to drop an e-mail to our TA about the free night. The adjusted invoice was already in my inbox. They were proactive in processing the free night without me even asking.

Yes- Denny has already re-processed all his bookings.
But I'm not too sure that others will do it without asking.
So if you did book previous to the announcement of the promo and you have not gotten a change already.......

Nobody has come right out and said so, but it seems pretty obvious to me that their bookings are way off just like everyone else in the Cancun area (although not as bad as many others.) Between the Mexico drug violence hubris, the swine flu exaggeration, and the economy in general many people canceled trips to Mexico for the summer. They are just giving extra discounts to entice people to go ahead and book a trip and find out for themselves that everything at Desire is as wonderful as ever. Of course if the economy stays as bad as it is, it won't be a surprise to see similar discounts extended to other months down the road-and if we are all lucky maybe they will find that in order to keep the place full they will need to make the free day feature permanent again.

they cut the prices in 1/2 at Yankee Stadium and it didnt work too well...need to do better! how about offering return visitors (those that come every year) a super discounted rate? remember the rates when the place opened?
I know the economics, I know the marketing bs but the bottom line is if they made the place $250/night per couple, they'd have 99% capacity all year long!

Seems Denny has not reprocessed ALL his bookings as we have not received a new invoice. Guess I better email him and remind him..:)
