Anyone there now?

Just looked at one of the Cancun webcams and the weather looks pretty rough. Just wondering what everyone is doing for fun.

We arrive Saturday and it sounds like there has been a bit of rain. Hard to tell on the video cam.....curious if it has tapered off.

We were there the 15th - 20th. The weather was nice and there was only a short rain one evening. They had heavy wind and rains the two days before we arrived and we were told they even closed the pool. The beach is a mess with seaweed and there was some damage to the resort but most of the damage appeared to have been quickly repaired. The biggest thing we saw was the piles of seaweed and the ocean looked horrible. We didn't even go in the ocean on this trip. With all that being said, the staff are working their butts off trying to clean the seaweed with rakes, shovels and bagging it into trash bags. The problem is there is so much seaweed that it looked like they weren't getting ahead and maybe even losing ground. We couldn't believe how hard they were working. Too bad they didn't have equipment to help with the removal of seaweed.

Now there's a thought. Maybe a pass with a bobcat in the morning and a little later on Seen this done many times in Miami

They do have a tractor with a automatic weed rake mechanism, but from pictures of the beach area I saw following the last big storm the quantity of seaweed would have overwhelmed it and clogged it up within a few feet of starting. I guess good old Mexican manual labor will have to do its best.....

We just got back as well, the tractor is broken and they are waiting on parts. They had so many people working each morning, even some of the early riser guests were pitching in carry bags of seaweed. R&M

That is what makes Desire so special....We all love it so much no one thinks twice about pitching in to help the special crew that make us feel so welcome.
