Desire Suites - recent updates ?

Has anyone seen or heard about the Desire Suites after the recent renovations/reconstruction - other than the video which oddly showed nothing inside? I saw a poster late May saying that 3 of 4 had been opened, but noted the smell of paint and glue. Hopefully that has dissipated now.

We stayed in them on the 7th-12th and all four are complete. Big improvement over our New Years visit.

Yes it has its own pool and each villa has a jacuzzi. You can't control the temp on the Jacuzzi because it's attached to the pool and the wall is a few inches below the water level and there's two large holes in the wall. It will make since when you see it. Pool does seem a bit warmer than the public pool.

Yes, we just returned from staying in one of the suites. It was very nice and large. Huge windows overlooking the ocean with electric curtains that did a nice job blocking out the sun, which is a must in the morning. The bathroom was huge. Two sinks with a lot of counter space. Nice stocked bar. A shower with two rain shower heads and a handheld; nice pressure. One problem is that it does not drain well. Partially design, and I think that it may clog easily. The jacuzzi is worthless, but the pool is a beautiful feature and can lead to some late afternoon (or anytime you want I suppose) fun and partying with neighbors.

Worth the price? Like all things, that is up to each couple to decide. For some yes, perhaps for most, no. But it did work well for us - especially for a photo shoot!

My main concern would be the steps up to the bedroom. We are interested in the new suites, but we always get a ground level passion suite to avoid having to make late night stair climbs.

In the dark it can be a bit tricky. When they were first built the stairs were a very dark stained wood and those were scary in low light. I miss stepped a couple of times when we were there for New Years. They are now a white marble and easier to see unless it is very dark.

Any chance you were in 1603? We flooded the upstairs all the way to the stairs on our first night before we realized the shower wasn't draining well. They came and worked on it while we were out. With one shower running It was hit or miss the rest of the trip. If we had both showers running it flooded almost every time.

Ha! Yes! 1603!!! I noticed during the first shower (that was solo and not long) that it was not draining well. A couple of nights later my wife and I took a shower (no activities, simply quick showers) and it really poured out. Like you, during dinner we asked them to check it. I guess from your and probably others experience it was no surprise. They improved it. Not a huge deal for me. I simply did not want to make a mess and damage anything.

Was it simply 1603? Not sure. I do know that a shower two doors down (1601?) flooded as well. Two shower heads were going (for three persons! !) but not for long enough to justify the flooding that occurred. But really, that was the only problem.

It's not just the suites, our room (2403 I think) had a slow draining shower as well. Not really a big deal but we did have to be aware of it. If the lip around the edge was taller it would've been fine, that was the real issue, just a poor design. If you were in there too long water would overflow.

As for them being better than most of the stairs on property, I agree completely. The only time I nearly busted my ass was when they were dark brown and I overstepped missing one of the steps in the corner of the turn. It was dark and I was trying to quietly sneak out to the gym one morning without waking Sandy.

Thanks, I did find it on the website.. Wow, and I thought the passion suites were expensive!
