You're welcome to do most anything you like! The resort does not care.

We are considering the same thing. Bartenders will keep it for you.

It really unfortunate to have to consider bringing your own bottle. It basically alleviates the purpose of paying for an all-inclusive resort. The burden should be on the resorts to ensure the alcohol is not tainted.

Agreed. Better safe than sorry. Besides If I blackout I don't want anyone else taking credit for my hard work :-)

We have been doing it for years as we like to have a drink or two in the room as we are getting ready for dinner or the club. It also comes in handy if hosting friends in the room. As for cups, we bring our 30 oz Yeti insulated cups

I think this is an unnecessary excess of zeal. Both hotels are cleaned and sanitized. Less please...

You cannot buy duty free liquor on the way in.

Don't be paranoic and please don't act as those "ugly Gringos" we really hate in Mexico.
You are "happy Canadians", so show more tolerance towards third world countries.
Trust in a world class hotel like Desire.

I have been reading several of those articles. It seems to me that everything is part of a smear campaign towards the resorts of Cancun and the Riviera Maya.
My company is a supplier of one of the most affected resorts: Iberostar. I can say that they have a quality department that is extremely strict when selecting suppliers and products. They demand a lot and have no objection to paying slightly higher prices than the average, in exchange for quality assurance and compliance.
I find it very difficult for them to buy adulterated alcohol for saving a few cents.
Let's look at the case from the other side of the counter: I have witnessed how many guests abuse alcohol simply because it is "free" or because they feel free outside their country. I do not rule out that some of those guests mix alcohol with some other substance.
Another client recently asked me for 120 signs warning that bartenders will deny drinks to those who are visibly intoxicated. They have placed these notices in all consumer centers in their hotels. The company has made this determination because of the campaign in social networks.
After 14 years of being a customer of Desire, "I put my hand on the fire" for the quality of the drinks they offer to customers.

My choice to buy a bottle or two at the airport in Cancun has NOTHING TO DO WITH TAINTED ALCOHOL ISSUES....it is our preference and comfort of making a drink or two in our room as we get ready for the evening. Ugly Americans, too bad you feel that way, your choice and do as you like is our motto at Desire...we did it Thursday when we arrived in Cancun. To the original post, YES, you can bring your own bottle!

So no alcohol sold at the airport upon arival? That's ok I guess. I wanted to actually have some premium stock like Patron and crown royal black label possibly some grey goose. Being that this is our first trip to Desire we are a little worried not because of the resort but the supply chain itself. We have been to Mexico many times before at vanilla resorts and never ever had an issue.
