We were there this past New Years. We weren't impressed and probably won't go back for New Years. We have been to RM 6 times since May 2016 and New Years was our least favorite trip. We are in our earlie 40's and it seemed like an older crowd, who has celebrated New Years there many times before. Everyone was extremely friendly as usual, but it felt a little clickish to us. The resort did a huge dinner, Casino theme with fake money for an auction they held later that night and the usual champagne toast at midnight. We still had a good time, but we've had more fun on other trips there.

Went to RM last year and going back again this year. They did put on a good show and it did feel a bit classier but honestly every night is fun there so New years was to me just another night. One note, we have a tradition of running into the ocean naked. Security caught us in there and told us to watch out for Stingrays!
I would go, it is expensive but we met the best people and had a blast. Hence the reason we are going back
