As we finalize our preparations for our November trip. we wonder what would be the best time to make our 3rd return to Desire if we do so. We don't think future November travels will be an option. So far both of our trips are November trips.
If you didn't have work or family schedules to juggle, what is the best time to be at Desire (and don't cop out and say anytime is the best time).
Consider the weather, ocean temperatures, insect issues, takeovers, groups, events, phases of the moon, alignment of the stars, et....
If there was any one week you could schedule yourself to be at Desire, which would it be, and why?

Well, we've been in July, August and September and while the resort was very full each time we went with one group or another, the weather is always touchy that time of year due to hurricane threats. We've heard May is great with good weather and several groups making the resort pretty high energy. We are going in January (end of month) for the first time and have to say we are excited to visit the resort in the "winter" this time around. We've heard there are plenty of people and the weather is fantastic.
Hope that helps.....and YES, any time at Desire is great!

We have been at Desire in January, February, April, May,
July, and September. For us, the absolute best time is
in May- for several reasons.
1.- The "off season" rates take effect May 1st each year.
2.- The weather is close to perfect. No threat of hurricanes, but the water in both the ocean and pool is warm enough to enjoy(not always the case Dec thru April) but still be refreshing. The days are hot but the nights cool off nicely- very little rain and lower humidity than July thru Sept.
3.- The Cancun/Riviera Maya region is into their slower period as compared to Feb-March-April, so the airport and anything off resort is less busy.
4.- May is a huge month for groups. Most weeks in May see Desire as being pretty well booked up with groups. And most all of these groups are the kind of "real" fun loving people who have always been there during our very best Desire vacations.
We can't say that we have ever had a bad Desire vacation- I doubt that is possible for us. But We have seen Jan/Feb days that were too chilly and nights where you needed a sweater. April where the ocean and the pool (pre-heater) were too cool to stay in for long. July when it was so hot people were begging for shade- and it never really cooled down at night. And of course- even though we have gone and will continue to go every September- those September trips are always a gamble with the hurricanes- humidity is often really nasty- there are usually more little showers- and that of course can lead to more insect problems.

P.s.- As for which specific week- of course you are welcome to join us with the Ynots/Hot Tamales groups the week of May 8-17th ! There are still a very few
of the garden view rooms at the special pricing left, and several ocean view rooms.............

NebraskaCouple - between Mfay and ourselves we have done a total of close to 35 trips to Desire.
Personally we have been at Desire multiple times in August, November, February, April and May.
Our #1 favorite time there would be May(for all the same reasons Mfay mentioned).
Our #2 fav time would be August, especially if you are looking for a little more laid back vacation. All the summer months from June until the end of October do carry the hazard pf potential hurricanes.

Very good info everyone. Might have to look at May for wife's birthday. It could be one of those gifts that keeps on giving.

We've been on 2 trips in the July-August time frame. Both were perfect weather wise. Hot? Yes, but with the lack of clothing and the proximity of the pool/gulf and tropical drinks not a problem. Also provides sultry evenings for sexy dress or undress! Never experience bugs or hurricanes. Maybe lucky but sure was fun.

We have been July, August and September. Those are the months we prefer to travel because it is HOT, HOT, HOT which is what we love about going to the tropics. Often during the week it is quiet, yet as the weekend approaches it gets even HOTTER LOL. This is the perfect combination for us. Of course if you book with a take-over the scene is different. Yes, hurricanes are a concern, so we book with a company that allows cancellation for ANY reason. Darcy
