Just curious. We arrive at about 11:30 a.m. and have transportation with AMSTAR. What is a good estimate as to how long it will take to get to DM

No experience with that transfer company (we use USA Transfers), but it usually takes about 20 minutes to get from the airport to the DRM, if memory serves.

It takes approximately 20 to 25 minutes to get from the airport to the resort. Have fun!

It depends on how you booked your transfer, SHARED TRANSFER or PRIVATE TRANSFER

ie: PRIVATE TRANSFER (like USAtransfers) go direct from the airport to the resort - usually averages 20 to 25 min once you are in the vehicle

SHARED TRANSFERS on the other hand, you could be waiting while they fill up the van with more people heading to different resorts and then the time to drop them off before they deliver you to your resort - figure on a minimum average of 40 min to an hour

Worry about getting through customs first. We've spent as little as 10 minutes going through customs, to almost an hour. Depends on the crowd and how many agents are working at the time.

If you can cancel the transport with AMSTAR, I highly suggest book with USATRANSFER. It is a private transport, I used them once in 2015, and going to use again in our July trip. We had a nice late model SUV in 2015.

If you like most of Desire visiting couples, who not tell family and friends where we are staying, highly suggesting use private transfer. I read a discussion in this forum before, about face turn red while you got drop off at Desire, while the rest of other couples/family in the same vehicle looking at you.

Also, book USA TRANSFER from the link in this forum. It just a very small token to Wayne (Cokeman) to appeciate what he did to all of us providing all the useful info and this wonderful platform for us to chat.

Okay, back to your question, it takes about 20 min from start the engine to the front door of Desire. In 2015, it took us less than two hours arrive to paradise after landed.
