How have the bugs been at nite?

We arrive on Sunday and are wondering how the bugs have been at nite. Can any recent returnees comment .

I would not say that they are terrible, but YMMV. Some folks were getting bit more than others last week so I would definitely bring your repellent of choice. Some citronella oil that friends of ours brought seemed to work well.

We only saw/heard them spray once early last week, which appeared to be a change from the past where they did it several times a week. Our amateur opinion was that the bugs were worse than last year, but not unbearable. Not sure if the incredible weather, with very light winds had anything to do with it.

Bugs were certainly bearable, just bring some repellent and after bite, and you will be just fine.

Somethng that has worked well for us on several trips is taking vitamin B-1, starting two weeks before departure. Last winter at Desire, there was only really one night where the bugs were an issue, and they left us alone.

When we were there in May, they sprayed every evening around about 7. Amazingly neither Nicole nor myself got 1 bite the entire week. Sprayed ourselves with Ben's 30 deet wilderness formula. Greatest stuff around. www.tendercorp.com for info.

It even kills the Jersey skeeters and that's saying something. Right Mike?

M, we got the idea from you two - apply to your tongue and then apply to a member of the opposite sex. That is what you two were doing wasn't it?

We got back last nite and fared well with the bugs. Used our spray and had just a couple nibbles. Some others had several bites and some none. The one thing I did not see was the resort fogging at nite like we saw back in January. We did start taking B1 about 30 days before the trip.
