Hey everybody, so wifey and I are planning to do a DRM trip sometime around August or September of next year. This will be our first trip there. We're just wondering how soon we should book and where is the best place to book to get good deals if we are travelling from Canada. Please get back to me if you can! Thanks guys!

We usually book our September trip thru expedia on black Friday and we have been lucky and gotten great deals.
August/September are slower months so availability is generally pretty good up until a month or 2 in advance.

Also, how is the weather during those months?

That's getting into hurricane season. The chances of getting hit by a hurricane are relatively low but it also includes tropical storms, depressions, and more rainy weather in general. There's still plenty of good weather then too of course so you never know what you will get. Just something to think about.

FYI - the Caribbean hurricane season officially runs from the beginning of June until mid November - most years not an issue for the Cancun and Riviera Maya areas - but as mentioned previously - BUY TRIP INSURANCE if you choose to travel in that time space.

June historically has been the rainest month for the area, however it's still a very popular month for many to go.

Best overall prices for Desire usually occur when Desire runs their annual direct booking, limited time, Cyber sale(usually in Nov) - the sale is announced well in advanced and linked on these forums.

Best air pricing from Canada for direct flights right now is from Interjet via one of their hubs in Vancouver,Toronto or Montreal or watch for seat sales from Westjet

If you have to cancel all or part of your trip, for medical, hurricane, etc then at least you are going to see some financial reimbursement.
Best place to start is usually with your credit card companies since many offer that as another adjunct service, but there are many other good options as well.

Take the time in advance to shop around for it to get the best coverage for your dollar !

Others many answer differently, but in about 40 trips to DRM all we have ever used the room for is to shower, change and sleep(yes, actually sleep - lol) so we always book the least expensive room and use the savings to get an extra night and spread it around in tips for the great staff.

Lots of various opinions on "best rooms" search thru the General DRM section - here's one to get you started Best room for the money?

The resort is very compact - about a one minute walk, end to end(if you are sober - lol)
