Where is Ahmed?
He was still fairly new. Seems like his first week was during our Nov or Dec or Jan trip.
Every trip, from our first arriving at the resort, he remembered and called my wife by her name.

We never saw anyone named Ahmed. Tony(new) , Kevin, Sergio, and a new trainee (I was told his name was Ralph) was just starting as we were leaving.

We also just got back from RM. The only change to this list was that Mariana is no longer on the staff.

Oh no! That stinks. She was such a cutie. She was talking about starting her own CrossFit or something similar. I wonder if she's doing that. Anyone know her insta?

Lots of short term employees leaving makes me think there are problems with management.

In many cases, the entertainment staff consists of younger people. Many are from outside Mexico and they obtain a 6 month work visa to work in the country. Six month or twelve month stays for entertainment staff are common.

Some stay on, some do not stay on. It's the nature of the position. Mia (formerly on the entertainment staff at Pearl) now works in the office at RM. Robert (formerly on the entertainment staff at pearl) now works in membership sales. Nessy (formerly on the entertainment staff at Pearl) seemingly travels the world as a yoga instructor and Instagram influencer. Vince left Pearl once to work on a cruise ship, then returned.

In our experience, with a few exceptions, the leadership of the EC teams (Charlie, Anna) are relatively stable (Charlie and Kia did leave after their marriage, but both returned shortly thereafter). Turnover among the rest is natural because joining the entertainment staff is not a career in and of itself.

Bryan and Kelli you are correct. It is in fact the nature of the job. Many of them also move on to another EC job at another resort after a few years just for a change, as each resort does things differently and the routine can otherwise get a bit monotonous. We're pleasantly surprised that Anna has stayed at RM as long as she has. I believe she is in year 4 there. We really like her and think she does a great job. When there are really busy turnover days the resort sometimes asks her to help out with the check-in process. She is very capable and could easily get a job at about any resort but hopefully she'll stay a while longer.

Agreed, we really like Anna. Based on our visits in January and last week, Yuni seems to be taking a more prominent role as well. When we first met her, she had just started and barely spoke any English. Night and day different today.

What is the schedule there, 6 days a week, 12 hours a day, something like that? If so, that alone would seem to increase the chances of turnover, but then again maybe that's just a U.S. way of thinking, I really have no idea how this would relate to other positions in their economy.

EC's now work 5 1/2 days per week.
They get one full day off, and they get one additional evening off.
They all have the time period when pool activities end (4:00 or so) until evening activities begin at the lobby bar as free personal time.

Yes, it must be a grueling schedule, plus they can't ever have (or at least "show") a Bad Day. (Ya know, like we all are on Mondays!)

Anna has now left DRM, her last working day there was 4th July.
We're all pretty bummed about it - we loved Anna!

This is going to bring a huge change to the atmosphere of the resort!
Dee Dee and Anna both gone. OMG! They were the "pillars" of the EC.
We return in two weeks. I fear it won't be the same.

Agreed, those two really gave the place some personality. Yuni was leading a number of activities when we were there in June, but she's not quite the level of Anna and DD from a personality standpoint.

It’s important to understand that EC members are hired with the assistance of 3rd party agency and they typically sign a 6 month employment agreement. This agreement can be renewed for an additional 6 months under certain circumstances. The majority of EC staff come from a country other than Mexico and are looking for a “unique” experience. While it might sting to have your favourite EC member move on, I’m sure their loved ones back home are glad that their term has expired.

2 of the most recent ones to leave DiDi and Anna must have had special circumstances as they had been there for a while, way more than 6 months. There are others that have been there more than 6 months as well.

If they generally left after 6 months they would never become "beloved hosts" by repeat guests as most don't go to Desire that often in order to establish those relationships. One of the things people seem to like the most, ourselves included, was seeing them after not being at Desire for a while and having them clearly remember you, say hi, etc... (which is amazing given the number of people they interact with). This has been a pretty common phenomenon so I'm not sure exactly what special circumstances means in this context.
