Trip #5 coming up this summer and never had a problem with water or bugs! Just lucky??? Maybe depends on when you go. We have always gone late July to early August.... No problem with the rooms (although we stayed in the same room 2 different trips). The last trip we were in 1811 and it DID have the step down from the bed area which could have proved problematic (but did not) and very little closet space. In fact smaller room than others we've seen. It did have the advantage of the small shared balconey, closesness to the lobby bar and spa and a neat bridge and waterfall as you approached :D As for the tipping, we always tip at the end so it really doesn't affect our service which is always 100% :D The one exception is Rene with the beach beds - I do think a little consideration each day is good 8) Its all good. Hope our luck with the bugs holds out :D

Trip report

Agree with all of the maladies of Desires and probably even more if given the contemplative opportunity to list. We have a tendency to classify the resort infrsatructure and it's pecularities as a strong C student.

That being said we fundamentally understand that all of those seemed to be overcome, more or less, by being in the environment that is only Desire. We do not come for the food, great room or entertainment. We come because of the cultural ambiance that can only be found at Desire. Maybe the new Cabo and Pearl facilities will address the infrastructure issues (the pics would lead one to believe). Yet, the ability to transplant the culture to those resorts deals with the unknown quantity of success. Desires in the end is a known commodity. Average accommodations that probably would not be tolerated except for the extraordinary milieux of people and the incredible opportunity to interact with them. The bugs, air conditioner and lack tuna meld into the background when cozied up to 40 of your closest friends in the hot tub at night at sunset. We think of it as driving to a less than a desirable area, to a tired appearing restraunt, to eat the best Mexican food of our life. We will be there in March 2012.

Life is all about balance. Slainthe'

Hi Marci,

Can you (or anyone else) share any more info about the Tiki?

We are taking a group in April. This area was under construction last year but we noticed there was a stripper pole (maybe 2).

We'd like to plan a party there and any info you have about this enclosure would be greatly appreciated.

Much thanks!

John,
We were there in August (when it was first enclosed) and again in December and will be there late March-early April when you are there;) We went to the returning guests reception which is held in that newly enclosed area and we did not see any stripper poles inside. Looking forward to seeing you there.

Yes we are addicted;)

There are no permanent stripper poles in the glassed in room. There were/are a couple of portables around that could be moved in there.

During most weeks when there is not a large group that has a welcome party, Desire does usually hold a repeaters party one mid week late afternoon. They have some sort of fruity drink, some finger foods, and little gifts set out for both the guys and the gals. Usually the GM and other management folks attend and you get a chance to talk to them and find out the latest.
Only lasts an hour or so.

Mfay has it right...we went there..got baseball hats and sarongs and had drinks and finger foods. There were also managers there talking to quests and thanking them for returning. We were only there for 20 minutes or so.
