A Cancer Survivor's Perspective on Desire!

Postby it's all good! » Tue Feb 16, 2010 12:30 pm

My wife and I returned from Desire on Jan. 23, 2010 after spending 1 week at the resort. I have been debating whether to write a trip report or not. However, it would be an injustice not to do so.

Before booking our trip to Desire last October, I never would have thought to go there. I then started reading the trip reports and the discussions in general from this Desire forum, and my wife and I said "what the heck, let's go!" As the trip grew nearer, we became more excited, but some trepidation did set in. You see my wife and I are in our mid-forties and we have experienced topless pools in Vegas, but never a clothing optional resort. My wife is a stunning blonde who keeps herself in great shape. I however, am 6'4", in good shape, but have had 6 cancer related surgeries and am self conscience of my body. Thus the trepidation. We are not in the lifestyle, but enjoy people and are open to new things and experiences. So off we went with nervousness, excitement, and a hope of having the time of our lives.

Well, for all of you wondering if you should go or not, JUST GO :!: :!:

It was without a doubt, an experience of a lifetime :!: The people at Desire were the friendliest, non-judgemental, non-pushy group my wife and I have ever met! When we were approached by people in the lifestyle, it was done kindly and with respect. The staff at the resort was outstanding! They would do anything for you and with a smile of their face at all times. The food was good and the alcohol was flowing, and for all those people complaining about top shelf liquor or the lack thereof, get over it  . Most of us have stayed at higher end resorts that have more luxury than Desire, but never a place for couples with the unique intimate atmosphere that Desire offers. When you see your wife in the sexiest outfits at dinner, and her walking around the resort naked, (well, she did wear a white cowboy hat ) with the eyes of both men and women on her, it is the best :D . The pool was at a good temperature for our visit, and the beach beds, lounge chairs and service by Africa on the beach, and Sylvia at the pool was outstanding. The entertainment was fun and well participated. Oh, and being a judge for the lingerie contest, well, what more be said .

Going to Desire is an experience that everyone should have! People in this forum can sometimes forget what this particular resort offers. Because of my illness, I consistently remind people to not take your life for granted. Try to remember your first time to this resort and how that first experience was nervous but exciting, crazy and somewhat surreal! I am sure most of us wish that our very good friends at home could go with us, but deep down inside we know that they are afraid to or wouldn't get it. My wife and I can only hope to return many times. Unfortunately in my case, my illness is still hanging around so we will try to get back sooner than later.

Thank you to all the people at the resort the week of Jan. 16, 2010 for making my concerns about my situation go away. Not one person made me feel uncomfortable about my scars, and as a matter of fact, some wanted to pour chocolate all over my body  . By the end of the week, my wife and I were naked 24/7 (almost), in the playroom, up in the hot tub (when it reopened) having the time of our lives with great people. To the blonde from Chicago, my wife says hi.

To the moderators and all of you that read and write to this forum, you helped push us towards an experience that has left us wanting for more. And finally, to our friends D & C and M & A, seeing the reaction of all of the beach walkers from the Vanilla resorts  being stopped and asked for the time, well the look on their faces, they couldn't give it to us fast enough  . Thank you for your friendship and we look forward to seeing you there again.

'Til our next time, and to everybody, "it's all good, see you in the hot tub" :!:

Don,
We are of the mindset that don't let life pass you by. Experience what you want to...don't wait. I am glad you made the decision to go. The people at Desire are truly unique....friendly and non judgemental. The stress of battling and illness is tough I know....what a place to help make that stress melt away. I wish you the best of luck and a speedy recovery! Great trip report!

Don, I thank you for your very special post. I have written my post in my mind a number of times because I also wanted to express similar thoughts about Desire. Yet, I was nervous about approaching that topic. My husband and I adore Desire and had been there 5 times before I heard the words "You have cancer". I swear the first thought in my head was "Shit, we are going to Desire early November." So, I ask, can I be all done by early November? I had no clue....... I cancelled November and then cancelled the rescheduled May trip, but we did eventually get there  We had one of the best times ever at Desire. I had breast cancer and a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction. Yes, I have scars. So what if I was the only woman going bottomless, but not topless LOL. There were others there who had gone through more difficult stuff than I did and they were also having a blast. And I did go totally nude in the jacuzzi and it wasn't a big deal. It is all about attitude, attitude, attitude. How much can someone laugh in one week? I rarely stop smiling at Desire. It is truly one of the most sensual and fun places on this earth!! I thank you again for encouraging others to go without the fear of being judged. D

Don,

We are so glad that your illness has obviously done nothing to take away your spirit ! I give you full compliments for your courage and for taking the plunge and going to Desire with your wife.

No matter what anybodies future holds, Desire is one of those places you should always do now, not later. You very clearly "put it all in perspective"

Thanks for the awesome report !

Cheers,

Who cares about surgical scars etc?
On nude R/V parks and beaches in Europe we have seen, on 3 occasions, people with colostomy bags, in one case swimming in the ocean.
It's all in the mind.

Those words have been said many times in many ways over the years, but they do carry much more weight coming from people with circumstances like you- and Darcy.
So thanks Don for a great report ! Desire may have a few warts, just as all of us do, but overall it is great to hear again that it provides an experience that can't be equaled anywhere else.

Welcome to the Desire community !

Thanks for posting your trip report. It could be very encouraging for any "newbies" who might be hesitant in booking Desire.

Sounds like you had a great bunch of folks that were there the week you were but bare in mind that this changes from week to week or even day to day.

If you are even considering Desire, just do it. We met just a handful of folks during the week we were there but we, as a couple, had the best time of our lives.

There is no place like Desire. It's not as 'scary' as you might think, and you will make so many memories that the two of you will cherish and talk about for months (and years) to come.

My wife and I are headed back to Desire for our second trip this May (2010) and after reading your post, well...we wish you and your wife were there!

Don:

Thank you for putting life back into perspective. We can only hope that we can maintain such a great attitude if we ever face a similar affliction. Desire does have a way of bringing out all of the good in people. We cherish our time there and cannot wait for our return in 16 days.

Thanks again for such a heartfelt post, we surely appreciate you taking the time to write.

Don,
That was, without a doubt, the best trip report we have read. This was also our first trip, we arrived the day you left and it was trip reports like yours that got us over our fears. It was our best vacation ever. Good luck to you and your wife, I really hope we get to cross paths at Desires one day.
