Newbies Trip Feb 6-9, 2020

Postby jmc1982 » Sat Feb 15, 2020 7:13 pm

This was our first trip to DRM, our first public nudist experience, and our first LS-friendly resort or even club. Yes, we were true newbies. But we were very much looking forward to the sense of new-found freedom, and were very open to new experiences, including playing. Since we are in our early 60s, we were not sure what to anticipate, and especially how we would be received. The end result was a 90-95% wonderful time. So here is the breakdown.

Room: Oceanview north-end first-floor. Very quiet and peaceful. Ideal for us.

Food/restaurants: Excellent.

Service/staff: Exceptional, truly.

Drinks: Abundant. But, we candidly did not partake very much, mostly because we wanted to have a lucid experience and lucid memories. All good.

Organized activities: Galore, for the taking. But again, we passed on volleyball, trivia, dancing lessons, etc, and mostly laid back, preferring to just relax. We did do the foam pool party, which was no big deal, just OK (a lit of people just walking through head-high foam and being silly). Naked walks on the beach were phenomenal. Next time, we would lounge a little more at the beach than the pool. The evening performances and bands were really top notch professionally. Disco started very late (for a younger crew, which was fine) so we only visited once.

Playmakers: All wonderful, especially Yuni.

Specials: We passed on erotic/sensual massage for no particular reason (though the high cost was no incentive). One BIG disappointment was the Sensial Touch Workshop, which we were VERY much looking forward to. The front desk said to be sure to arrive there by 4.20 for the 4.30 workshop; when we arrived at 4.17, all spaces had been taken ... by 4pm!! When we asked, the workshop leaders told us that they had informed management that arrival time was 4pm; management said they did not know. Frustrating.

Nudity: Exceptional, truly. We were very excited to experience this and we were not disappointed. With shedding clothes, we and everyone shed all pretenses. People engaged on the most basic level of human personality. Met some nudist-only/non-LS couples who were terrific to engage and dine with. But everyone to a person was welcoming and comfortable. I think it is very important to comment on this for nervous first-timers, as well as for seasoned veterans. An old post we had read reported that you should imagine seeing the people in your local supermarket without clothes. I was not sure if that was accurate or just intended to be comforting when I read it, but that was spot-on. Literally, there was every imaginable body type, size, and form represented, proudly including the svelte and muscle-toned to even amputees and those sporting stretch marks and extra pounds. All - every single one - were magnificently beautiful. A palpable celebration of our common humanity. The variety and differences actually made it EASIER to interact (hard to believe, but true, because there was no pretense). Everyone was welcoming, accepting, affirming, non-self/other-conscience, and non-judgmental. The positive energy was explosive and extraordinary. It absolutely was THE best. This is how we were all meant to be.

The vibe: The erotic, sensual energy was strong and terrific. This distinguished the experience from just simple nudity. It very much enhanced being in the buff: we felt not just bare but sensual. Couples were very much into their partner and it was easy to admire others and be admired (and guys with boners wore them proudly). PDAs and PDS were everywhere apparent, most discreet, some less so, none offensive or bothersome (although, consistent with the “rules”, the staff literally stopped a couple right in the middle of coitus in one of the pool beds one afternoon, to the dismay of many who were relishing the woman’s moans - that gave new meaning to coitus interruptus!).

Playing (with each other): This was also outstanding. The atmosphere energized us. We made love openly on the beach beds, our room bed with our doors wide open, and the jacuzzi beds, undeterred in each location by the presence of others, and rather encouraged by it. Even just lounging, PDAs and intimate touching only brought us closer.

Playing (with others): Chaulk it up to our inexperience, but this was regrettably a mixed bag. As I mentioned, we have not been LS-ers but are very open to new experiences and were curious about playing. The jacuzzi provided some splendid encounters of kissing, intimate touching, oral, etc. But we were not into the more “animal-house” displays, e.g., “BJ conga line” (though we were sincerely delighted for them). There were quite a few cliques of regulars, which even us social-folks found challenging to break into (but we always had each other). Good news: no aggressive males; to the contrary, all men and women were perfectly respectful to each other. The LS-ers we met were very warm and friendly, and not at all pushy; in fact, to the contrary. We did meet many lovely couples and people, but found no other opportunities that suited us, except one particularly lovely couple (A&B) near our age whom we encountered several times in several situations and whose company we really enjoyed; we thought they were promising, but unfortunately it did not go anywhere (though we think that could have been wonderful). Whether that was their choice or our own dumb ignorance in picking up the subtle signals, we will not know. Oh well. But all in all, very nice group of people.

In short, a very special experience, which we would love to return to and replicate (but maybe more attuned). If you are considering this experience, do not hesitate; do it!

Thank you for your thorough (and timely!) DRM trip report! We are heading there this Friday for our first trip to a clothing-optional, LS friendly resort and are really excited. You covered most of the things we are wondering about, and have eased our concerns quite a bit. We're both 60 and fairly new to the LS. We hope to connect with others to play with, so it sounds like we will need to be open and communicative (which we are!) in order to find couples interested in playing with us.
Cheers! S&S
