Jerry and Liz here. We just got home...ugh! We had a wonderful trip filled with many new memories and the opportunity to meet some really great people! Desire is BETTER than ever. New and better entertainment, a new stage in the Lobby area, FANTASTIC new Disco (with - and get this - GREAT dancing music!)...fantastic new Playroom (the "sin" room as it is called), more "top shelf" drink options and much more. We did Beach beds in the AM and Pool in the afternoon. No issues getting a Bed or Lounger at either. If we have the energy we will file a more complete trip report later.

Highlights - of course, new friends. Desire has a way of making it easy to make new friends.

On our first day the Mrs. was floating on her back in the pool and one of the other girls(who shall remain nameless LOL) came over and tweaked her nipples....what a great way to introduce yourself at Desire!!

Great entertainment and great staff

Lowlights: We checked in and they gave us what has to be the worst room at Desire. We asked and got moved promptly. Arturo says "no one likes those rooms"....so why charge full price for them?? Those rooms need to be closed or heavily discounted...seriously. (update: Rooms are 1001,1005, 1003 and 1007 - they "open" to the outside entry road to Desire therefore you cannot be nude upon exiting these rooms but there may be some people who prefer this) The jacuzzi beds need to be replaced, unless you like to make love on concrete. The Pool was too warm and the Jacuzzi was way too hot.

Nice TR, makes us want to go even more...sometime in 2011 will be our first trip....do they have any kind of poolside entertainment or just at the disco at night?

Lots of poolside entertainment...lots of erotic contests, pole dancing, volleyball, dancers, jello shots - in the pool and out..usually something going on at the top of the hour...but mostly the pool is a good place to chill out and meet friends

Oh that's great, sounds like a good mix of fun! Glad they have volleyball for my guy and I love contests, body shots etc...

What is the Room Number we should avoid?

Rooms to avoid has been asked before so I will reply here. They gave us Room 1007 upon arrival. Just an "ok" garden level room with one BIG drawback. The door opens to the OUTSIDE of the resort right on the entry road to desire. You cannot exit your room naked (like we enjoy doing). YOu need to be clothed, walk along the entry road and take a right turn up a path, through a gate...then you are on the interior of desire where you can then get naked.

Keep in mind that Cars/Taxi's and busses are constantly driving up to the lobby entrance with Desire guests AND non-desire guests - sometimes with families with kids waiting to be dropped off at another resort. You cannot be walking around naked. We asked and got moved to another room.

From the Map...it appears these rooms will have the same issue: 1001, 1003, 1005, 1007, 1212, 1211 1712 and 1711.

Desire should DEEPLY discount these rooms

Actually the only rooms that have this issue are: 1001, 1003, 1005, 1007 and many guests actually prefer these and ask for them as their first choice

Thanks for the clarification. Arturo, when he helped us move FROM 1007 said to us "Nobody likes these rooms - I am always moving people to other rooms". Glad to know some prefer these rooms - but not us

we have actually been in 1001 and liked it on a previous visit. The garden wall is at its highest point there and the fountain that lights up at night is right outside the window. There is no passer-by traffic from other guests. Plus, you can make a left out of your room, go up the steps, then down on the other side and be right at the pool. (these are the steps that folks use to get to the second story of rooms in Building 10) - on the opposite side of the steps going up to the jacuzzi.

It takes a bit of extra walking/climbing, but that is a good thing, considering all the delicious meals you have during your stay at Desire!

How soon should I call ahead and book my room and which rooms should I request? I will be travelling oct 30 to nov 6

About the "introduction". Hmmm, some folks may not like that kind of thing but good thing your "Mrs." did. Must have been some kind of vibe she sent out that made that other girl think she could do that.

Last year for our first trip we were told to e-mail them 2 weeks in advance of arrival.

The rooms are only assigned about two weeks ahead so there is no reason to make requests earlier than that.
The easiest way is just to use the "Express check-in"
feature on the Desire website. It is available 15 days before your arrival. And remember- always give them 3 or 4 choices and you'll have a much better chance of getting what you request.

And don't "expect" to have your requests fulfilled. It just might not be possible.

We stayed in one of those rooms the first time we were at Desire Cancun. There were a few times when we just walked to and from our room naked despite being next to the driveway entrance. No one stopped us or anything.

It was not until the end of our stay that we discovered that we could simply turn left and go up the stairs into the inside of the resort.

One thing that is very nice about the rooms facing the entrance is it is a very short walk up the stairs to the hot tub!
