Keeps getting better and better...

Our 6th trip and one of the best ever. The place just seems to understand the concept of customer satisfaction as evidenced by the disco and new playroom. In our previous 5 trips, we peeked into the playroom and never used it. This time we were in there 5 times and loved it. We met some super nice folks and had some great times in the jacuzzi. Being beach folks, we really appreciated them taking those curtains down as we were able to have conversations with our neighbors without having to hold the darn curtains back.
Its just a damn shame the beach has eroded to the point where the water us almost underneath you all the time. Back a few years when there was 50-60 feet worth of great soft sandy beach but mother nature and Wilma took care of that. Nonetheless, still our favorite hangout where my wife could read her kindle and get some much needed relaxation.
We went to see Claudia for the 1st time and need to book here for next year. Still have this great grin everytime we think about those 2 great hours.
The food and service get better each time if thats even possible. Leo, Matilda, CC, Africa, Rodger and the rest are all mainstays and we look forward to our retrun for trip #7 next year.
Again, its the folks you meet, the rules you break and the comfort in knowing Desire exists that make our lives for that one special week in Mexico, all worth it.

Hi Yankeefan,

Kind of have a hard time writing that, as we live in Boston, and you know how that goes!!! Although, this year...it is going no where for us, lol!!!!

Anyway, just reading your TR and noticing your comment on the amount of beach in front of the palapas...looks like there is very little, from pics we have seen...even compared to last year when we were there last!!! Are there still plastic lounges in front of the beds, or is there no room for that???

They do have 2 lounges in front of each bed. At times, the water goes right under them but still ok to lounge, read, sleep and get some tan, depends of the tide. The seaweed and stuff does accumulate often but they do the best they can to keep it as clean as possible. I'm no geologist and I cant see how they can address this beach situation other than what they've done up to now.
Maybe they can get Pedroia and Youkelis to help rake the beach?? They will have loads of time on their hands in October when the Yanks will be busy!
Sorry, couldn't resist...that's for my other Boston buddy Steve.

Yankeefan,

Thanks for the great trip report! Hopefully we can echo your sentiments when we return to Desire in 15 days for our 2nd trip!

The beach erosion is a legitimate concern. The best way to tackle the problem would be to erect break-waters about 50-75 yards offshore, similar to what they did at Grand Lido Braco. That seems like the only way to reduce the erosion that is just going to happen naturally, if nothing is put in place to calm the water down before it hits the beach. Problem is...I hear the Mexican government can be real ball-busters in granting the necessary approvals to do this kind of thing.

Take Care!
