Just home from Oct 12 to 19 trip

Let me premise this report/review by saying that we don't consider ourselves "lifestylers" but will dabble in the fun if the situation feels right, we booked this trip on Travelocity and due to a computer error, we received an ocean view room for half the price of what the "retail" price is stated... even after booking, and reading here, we were still very hesitant on going and almost canceled several times, my wife's first thoughts were that she didn't think she could handle 7 days with a bunch of swingers....

we originally had booked our trip monday to monday, but didnt do airfare at the time, we looked around for airfare and later found it to be cheaper to do tuesday to tuesday... we called travelocity to see if it was possible to change the desire reservation, they called desire, then called us back and said everything was fine, it was all set, i asked them if they could update our itenerary and they said they couldn't but gave me a confirmation number and I then called desire directly myself, spoke a person at the desk, got her name and the fax number there, confirmed the reservation change, and was asssured that all was changed and we were good to go.... this was pretty much the only hitch in the entire vacation... we got there on tuesday and of course they had no record of us..... after a bit of searching we were found on the monday arrival list and we really had to "argue" our case to get communicate what happened, and it also was suggested that we may not be able to stay until tuesday.... it took several hours to get checked in, and a few hours into the "negotiations" we asked where our towels and champagne were, as that was something that was posted on this site that would be made available to us.... they did bring it out.. so after several hours they did manage to accomodate us and gave us our room key and we started our vacation.... still wondering if once tuesday came if we would still have a room, which of course, when checkout time monday came, our room keys no longer worked.... AGGGGHGHGHHG..... fortunantly they were very helpful at the desk and in only 1 minute our keys were reprogrammed and all was well

we will hit some of the highlights, there weren't many lowpoints other than the checkin

room: we stayed in 612, second level ocean view room, clean, comfortable, always cleaned daily, many many fresh towels, AC worked wonderful, good water pressure, good hot water, mini-bar stocked with more water/beer/sodas than we could consume in our room, wonderful balcony with direct ocean, very convienent access to the lobby bar, beach, and all other amenities. there was a slight bug problem, little black gnats but that was only when we left the balcony door open, it would have been nice to leave the door open to get some fresh air at night and hear the ocean, perhaps a screen door on the balcony might work....

food: overall very good, we ate at the larger more formal resurant twice and both meals were very nice, good presentation and good flavor, nice variety of choice, we did the buffet on steak night and it was average, and then three times we reserved for the hibachi which was very good... we learned that if you tip well and ask, they have off the menu items that are wonderful, one night we had a special off menu raw sushi/sashimi plate made and then lamb chops which were great.... the breakfast buffets were typical mexico, nothing special, for lunch we either ate at the pool side bar which was decent or we ordered directly from our beach lounge beds which was the best, africa was the best and delivering what looked like a roman lunch feast, the chicken quesidillas were great as were the club sandwhiches....

service: very good, the staff was awesome, people working there knew your names when it seemed you had never even had contact with them... always had a full beer or drink, and really never had to wait.... there was a slight communication gap with the beach bed staff when we tried to reserve three beds (us and other friends each took turns in the morning reserving the beds), but it worked (tips help)..... the beds were very comfortable and relaxing

beach: small but nice, they kept it clean, some weed growth here and there and a few people said they were stung by a possible jellyfish but we didnt see any in the water

disco: very fun, was there for at least a few hours after dinner every night, participated in many of the themes, the eyes wide shut was a bit over the top for us but the naughty school girl night was the best, all depends on what you like!!!

most of our other observations on the place echo what most people have said here, very nice, very sexy, clean, great service, good food, etc etc...

we spent three days going out for excursions, one was the claudia massage, it was nice but again, maybe a bit over the top for us, i guess if you go to desire you should probably experience it, but once was enough for us.... we also went on the ATV day trip, amazing time, careful jumping into the well as one girl ended up with a solid black and blue ass for the rest of the trip, we also did the catamaran booze cruise which was again a lot of fun..... we also went into cancun for lobster dinner at lorenzillos, its basically a $100 round trip cab ride... kinda pricey

as for the people, there is a wide wide variety, a few 25-35 (very few), more 35-50 age range (most predominant) more 50-60 ish... and then a few less 60+er's although they were well represented

body type of all sorts, but we were pleasantly suprised that most people were reasonably average and there were also a large number of very attractive well maintained people..... body hair on most people was non-existant, almost all the women were completely bare as were most men.....

swingers: if you are not a swinger, you have no worries... we were mildly appoached by some, maybe danced next too, maybe a suggestion here and there but it was NEVER forceful, that being said, its there if you want it

mostly, some of the concerns we had and concerns we have read on this site are either naive to downright foolish.... if you have it in your mind that this type of resort (clothing optional) might be for you, than you have already though about it and thats all you need, any concerns about being naked, swingers, wear a wedding ring or not, where to have sex, is unfounded fears.....

overall we had a great time and will likely be back some year... if anyone has any specific questions we are more than willing to let you know our thoughts....
