Just Back October 9-13

All - we are just back from a very impromptu trip to Desire Cancun (although Cancun is a misnomer - just far enough South to be away from the fray).

We were scheduled for a Thursday AM departure for Cabo. Wednesday AM we saw that bad boy Norbert barrelling towards the Baja Peninsula. We rebooked with no charge to Cancun. Additionally, because Cancun is cheaper to fly to, the airline change only costs $100. So off to a good rebooking.

We had an uneventful flight from the East Coast at "O-Dark Thirty." We arrived in Cancun and our arranged transportation was not there. We chalked this up to the rebooking and grabbed a cab.

Upon arriving, we were gratiously welcomed - although it was a bit busy. Our room wasn't ready so we grabbed our suits and coverups (our last vestige of modesty for the weekend) and changed in the Spa. Off to the beach from some long awaited R&R. Now for the rest of the trip.

With respect to the food. We had some good meals and some bad meals but candidly, we didn't come for the food. If you want some fine dining, take a trip to Cancun. It was filling and we enjoyed the Asian restaurant the most. The Mexican buffet was a great if you like fajitas and tacos - great soft corn toritillas and a variety of delicious fillings. Breakfast was always a treat - I never make bacon or sausage so we loaded up.

Accommodations. Our Beachfront Jacuzzi Suite was perfect. Just steps to a private cabana. This came in especially handy as we went back and forth to enjoy the Longhorns beat the Sooners on Saturday. As all have reported, the showers leak but just grab your used beach or pool towels and create some bath mats. The good thing about water is it cleans up easy. We were far too busy to enjoy the ensuite jacuzzi. Maybe next time. There was some pretty intense thunderstorms that blew rain in the room but it added to the already sensual ambiance. Also, for my clumsy sisters - the tile gets really slippery so be careful when it is wet.

Pool and Beach. The pool was pretty crowded and if you wanted a chair, you needed to get down early. That was not a big enough draw to get us out of bed early. The beach was a bit more empty and the first few days the water was crystal clear. Both beach and pool service was excellent. Later in our stay, the seas picked up and the seaweed was a bit rampant but they seemed to do a good job raking it up. Hard to fight mother nature in the water, however, and it did get a bit cloudy. No worries, however, as the pool remained clean and clear. The restaurant by the pool was very convenient and while the food was average, the service was great. We had Marianna for lunch and breakfast a couple of times and she was adorable, efficient and very professional.

Day games and activities. Joe participated in a rousing game of beach vollyball and I played one game of throw (and failed miserably). They were available every day and the staff did a great job. If the games annoy you, hit the beach as it is very quiet. The crowd at the pool was quite convivial - the beach was more isolated. If you want to mingle and socialize, hit the pool. Folks seemed to meet there and then head to the beach and share cabanas.

PDA. The thing mosts folks want to know about. Well, it certainly happened but was random in some places and more routine in others. We did happen upon couples engaged in the act in the beds off the lobby, on the beach and in rare occasions by the pool. In the rooftop jacuzzi, the PDA was a bit different. Seemed to be more "soft swing" and more intense interactions were confined to the more privately located beds. We explored the playroom one night but only shared the room (not each other!) with one other couple. It was still a great experience to enjoy the freedom.

Clothed versus Not. I share comments by others that there seemed to be alot more clothed folks versus our prior visit. And as with other observations, they seemed to get pretty wild and engage in the most overt PDA but with their clothes on, if you can imagine.

Rooftop Jacuzzi/Disco/Playroom. We only hit the nightlife two out of four nights but had a great time. We don't swing but certainly enjoy the energy and freedom afforded by the resort. The last night we were there, the jacuzzi was pretty happening. Lots of loving, touching and squeezing...each other but nothing offensive. That certainly set the mood for a sexy evening and we carried the mood into dinner, after dinner drinks, the disco and the playroom. A clear example that Desire resorts works for us "non" or mentally "wanna be" swingers as well.

Day trips. We took a day trip to Playa Del Carmen. We had a great time - took in the NFL Sunday Ticket while we escaped from a downpour and did some duty free shopping as well. There are dozens of restaurants, spas, shops, etc... if you want to get a away for a few hours or a day.

In summary. Come for the fun, the sun and the relaxed atmosphere. If you want fine dining and large hotel services, head for one of the fortresses lining the highway but don't expect to enjoy the same level of stimulation during your visit. We enjoyed the charm of the small resort, the lovely service across the board (Jorge was fantastic) and the sexually charged atmosphere that keeps the spark alive after 23 years. Especially when your man can't keep his hands off you.....

And to the friends from Charlotte we met the last night in the Jacuzzi, if we meet a certain D.S. in Virginia, our lips are sealed!

Take care all - Beth and Joe

Nice report

Sounds like you had fun. Great report.

We too are non-swingers. You are a bit more adventurous than we are. We don't do the nightlife but come to Desire to reconnect and relax. Our PDA is "private" displays of affection. Lots of it too. I was drained. Needed Gatorade to keep from drying out.

We too saw that clothed was becoming more the norm. Lots of g-strings and cover ups. That disappoints us as we enjoy being nude and feel most comfortable when most are joining in.

Oh well, I wonder if it's a trend or just an anomaly. I'll still be naked as much as possible. Still wear my shear pants to dinner and the wife has a shear outfit for dinner most nights.

Maybe we'll catch you there some time. Met some nice folks last trip.
