We are at Desire now. It is 84 degrees, breezy and a few clouds. The last time we were here was a year ago April. The wife and I are on one of the beach beds near the beach bar and have excellent Wi-Fi reception. Connecting to "Desire Wi-Fi," rather than the older desire connection means no need to put in a pass code. With an iPhone or iPad, connections are automatic once established.

The beach area is definitely expanding. There's 15-20 feet of beach between us and the water. As far as the beach beds are concerned, the old 2-hour rule still applies, according to Rene. We reserved our bed this morning with Rene, went to breakfast and still had our bed when we got back. The beach beds no longer have the curtains separating each bed. We like them either way. There is more air flow without them.

The large palapa outside the gift shop near the Melange Bar has been enclosed, as reported. Desire walled up the east and west ends. The north and south sides are full length glass panels with sliding glass doors in the middle. Inside there are tables and chairs and couches. There are air conditioners but they were not on yesterday. We have not seen the palapa used. Frankly, I liked the palapa the way it was before. We sometimes sat there watching the entertainment. We also used it during the day. But on the positive side, they have added additional chairs and couches in the Melange Bar area with new vinyl cushions, which presumably means they won't have to be moved during a rainstorm. It also means more places for people to sit and watch the entertainment. By the way, the Jamaican/Rock band that plays twice a week played new music last night.

Desire has improved the landscaping and added new touches here and there, including new art work in the main restaurant. As earlier reported, the pool area has been expanded with additional loungers. Not sure what the reservation rules are now for the pool. I saw Daniel this morning working hard as ever.

We ate at the main restaurant last night. The food and selections were good. We were told Desire has a new master chef. The waiters last night and this morning seemed to be working even harder to please than last year.

By the way, some of the nightly themes change the week of Cinco de Mayo. For future reference, they're listed in the Special Events section of the Desire website.

Yesterday, a couple got yellow-carded for having full blown, unadulderated, no holds barred sex on the artificial sandbar. You name and they did it. The artificial sandbar must be part of the beach reclamation effort and is just past the safety line/buoys. They actually did it twice--the second time with another female. Management was not happy and was waiting for the couple when they came in. As entertaining as it was, it was way over the top.

Guido is the new chef--not the head chef--and was recently in Dubai. He's being credited with changing up the Piachere and Suki menus. The food at Piachere was very good last night. We left around 8:15 when the restaurant became full. Service became slow after we left, we heard.

Vanessa from Canada is new to the entertainment staff. She's been here a year. She's cute, has tons of energy and is a good addition to the staff. Hector is also new.

The band last night was very good. It may have been new. The band the previous night was also good.

Seriously ??? IMHO, this should be a red card offence. Its that type of blatant stupidity and ignorance that is going to get the mexican government to scrutinize every aspect of the resort and force changes. I know if I had been walking the beach, with my kids (not that I ever would walk past Desire with my kids!), or boating by on our way to go snorkelling, I would be pissed and lodging complaints !

There are so few "Rules" at Desire, cant we add "don't be idiots" to the list ?? sheesh...

Well put Steve. I'm all in favor of allowing all of us to do whatever/wherever, as long as we are out of view of the public !!!!!!!!!!! Gotta use some common sense and not put paradise in jeopardy.

Steve, especially considering the fact that the couple put on a spectacle at the pool the day before, I agree. My wife and I didn't see the pool episode but did see the beach shenanigans. Fortunately. families with children who had gone past the resort earlier, were not around then. Also, it was good the snorkeling boats were not nearby. I can assure you, though, they were chewed out for several minutes. Since then, they have been much more subdued. I thought the same thing you thought--that their activity could jeporadize Desire.

The weather has been outstanding here. Steak and Italian nights were held outside at the Tentazione restaurant and around one end of the pool. They needed a little more light for steak night, if you sat around the pool like we did. It was hard to see our steaks. I needed the glasses with the built in flashlights one woman had. No kidding! The food was good, though, and we had a good time. Casino night was last night and fire dancers performed.

One last comment, directed at the men, for goodness sakes put your shorts on or cover up ,when you go to lunch. We really don't want to see your junk near the food and while we're eating, You're supposed to anyway.

can someone put up what the nightly themes are? Is Thurs leather or free style?

Ordinarily, Thursday is leather night. See the Activities and Nightly Entertainment section of Desire's website for the current nightly themes. Some groups, however, change some or all of the nightly themes for their group. If you know a large group is going to Desire, you may want to check to see if they have posted nightly themes on their website. I would also check Desire's Special Events Calander for changes in nightly themes. Last night, the theme was changed to Emergency 69--police, firemen, nurses, etc, but some women wore lingerie, since it's normally lingerie night. Frankly, it didn't matter. Everyone seemed to have a good time.
