Well we just returned 11/27 and our perspective was a little different ,lol !

Music at the pool was only loud during activity times and most the crowd actively participated . We are particular fond of Emilio as we have watched him grow from a rather shy waiter to a very humorous ,outgoing EC and with the addition of Nikki and Sklar(rookie in training , 6 mos.) they made our trip very enjoyable !
In three trips we have never had a problem with our transportation.
Used Lomas this trip and we were walked directly out with enough time for a quick smoke and into our van and off we went !
There was evidently alot of rain prior to our arrival (roads completely puddled) and the bugs were out in full force ! The resort did attempt EVERY night around 5-6 p.m. to smoke them out with what looked like a leaf blower emmitting heavy smoke around all the buildings and bar area .
Red welts were the "in" look this trip , lol !
We were in room 2212 and no mold ! 1900 building was closed all week and they were completely re-painting ,staining and from what we could see remodeling .
The only complaints about drink service was on occasion the fill-in waiters/waitresses who did not speak much english , supplied us with some amusing concoctions !
El Arricife and Tentazione are more of a combined thing now .
El Arricife providing breakfast everyday and buffet 3 or 4 nights per week.
You have a choice of ordering from Tentaziones menu at lunch(outside) or dinner (inside , even on buffet nights). There is also a small buffet ,fish ,pizza , ch burgers, flank steaks ,salad bar ,ice cream ,etc. available at lunch also . Our only complaint with food was the small portions of some of the meals . I just can't survive on a tbsp of mashed and 3-4 ozs of filet , lol ! Otherwise it was delicious !
No pants required ! Casual dress ! I have also never had a problem with sandals at any of the restaurants .
We are both smokers and now that the disco is smoke free , they allow smoking outside exit towards hottub. We were told at check-in that guests were to only use the entrance to disco in the lobby because of the tight area for smokers at top of the other exit steps .This was ignored by most guests and many of the non-smokers complained as they broke the rule and squeezed thru the smoke area ,lol . We would like to see the rule enforced and maybe a small deck added for comfort and to accommodate all .We are respectful smokers and try not to bother others with our habit as much as possible but hey if your going to go thru life like a deer in headlights..... lol !
Also Rene and his crew did a great job providing beach beds and lounge chairs at the pool and the problem with " reserving "seems to be solved !

Overall we had a great trip and will continue to be repeat guests !

Thanks Gary & Tracy ! What a relief. After 13 fantastic trips to Desire we were so upset to hear- from another recent trip report- that apparently Desire had gone so completely downhill.
So its great to hear from you that everything at Desire is, as it has always been, very-very good !

Not everyone has come to the point in their lives and relationships that they can really appreciate the unique experience Desire has to offer. But for those who do "get it", nothing else compares .

Glad to hear that you had an enjoyable trip. Our 5th trip is coming up in April and we can't wait. The resort has always sprayed for bugs around dusk every night we have stayed at the resort. We have never really had any problem.

Glad to hear that the disco have finally gone smoke free we can make better use of the poles now!

We were there the following week and the issue with reserving beds was constant that week. We adore Rene, don't get me wrong, but it is difficult to find him quite a bit of the time with so many beds being added. We would be dressed and out the door, ready for a full day on the beds and probably half the week none were available. The other half of the week only a handful of the new ones at the pool end of the beach were not "reserved". Not that they were occupied, just reserved with a book or towel. We like the 2 beds by the volleyball court that back up to the pool area. One morning when no beds were available we opted for seats at the pool. No one showed at either bed until long after 10 for one and 1 in the afternoon for the other. Incredibly rude. Walked down the beach a couple of times to locate Rene to see if we could take over the bed - no luck.

People - have some consideration!! If you want to spend the entire morning in your room, give someone else the opportunity to enjoy a beach bed in the meantime. Plenty of people give up the beds shortly after lunch, you can grab one then.

Thank you, I feel better now

For those higher in the food chain a/k/a/, the passion suites, reserved beds down by the pool area are one of the perks. Use it or not, it's yours for the week. Guess it's like the Illinois pay to play thing. I'm always up at 7, get my bed, sign up at 8 and have a cup of coffee on the beach, grab breakfast and the rest is history. The really shitty part is when someone grabs a beach bed AND a pool chair, puts stuff on both and never shows up. OFW. It is what it is. Never had a problem with the YNOT's. The Great Swami of the North seems to keep everyone in line. Eh?
